ZaZu had a Great week

Well I have had him for 6 weeks now and he has come along wonderfully.
He loves his big cage (previous owners had him a small cage and hadn't been out in a couple years)
He has been letting me scritch him for quite some time, but not stepping up.
Well this week he figured out how to use the ladder to get down on the floor, so I lied down there while he checked things out, then he came to me and got up and came up my arm wanting to get back to his cage, he did this again on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, coming to me and getting on my hand and I even was able to walk him around the house to show him everything. He still shakes as I do this but hangs on anyways.

Well today was awesome, he was on his cage and I was next to him talking and he decided he liked my robe and when I got close he got on my shoulder, did a light nibble on my ear then decided to just look around until he was ready to get back on his cage.
Then he was on his cargo net just looking out the door at me doing some stuff on the patio when he started his mumbling and got louder, I went over to him and he put his foot out and he wanted on my hand then on to his outdoor perch which he never does.

He only last a short time as he is still not sure but it looks like his trust of humans is coming back.
Not bad for 6 weeks and it can only get better from here

Well doesn't Zazu look like a spoiled boy now I love his setup (and his name!)!He certainly looks happy with all that stuff to do and places to climb. Parrots know when they are loved and wanted, and respond favorably. Zuzu is going to be a wonderful companion

Yes, he does seem a lot happier and is starting to come out of his shell and acting like a YN should. I am home most of the time so he always gets some form of stimulation, talking, scratching or singing.
He mumbles a lot and appears to try and talk but nothing yet, he whinies like horse when scared/upset, funny cuz he sounds just like a horse.

He hates/scared of my 24 y/o son, he sees or hears him and heads for the cage and stays in there till he leaves.

That is excellent progress. Zazu must think he's in heaven with his new found freedom and that wonderful set up. So many interesting new things to do and a willing companion to boss around. Very lucky boy. I hope Zazu changes his mind about your son and eventually makes friends with him.

groovieguy, I am so happy for the both of you. I still remember the first month with Paddy my rescue GCC. When he came to me he was very angry and his social needs were not met. But in time. Bless you for caring.Bonita

Excellent progress and he looks very happy and very well spoiled as he should be.
