For those of you that have been following her progress, here is a quick up-date :D

She is doing soooooo much better! Bonding to me like "velcro" (I swear my shoulder has a piece of velcro on it and her feet have the other piece on them) My ears have given new meaning to the term "head handles" and it kind of tickles when she grabs them to hold on when she thinks she is going to fall! And we have to work on NOT sticking her tongue in my ears, that's just eeewww!

She likes to stand on my shoulder and lay her head and neck across my cheek with her beak rubbing my lips, and sometimes put her tongue on my bottom lip. And it seems like I'm always kissing her head and sniffing her neck! :54:

We've had a couple of short (about an hour or so long) battles with her breathing, but nothing as bad as she was having before. I have been paying close attention to what brings these on, and it seems to always be when she is playing too much for too long, so now I only let her play hard for about 15 or 20 minutes before going and getting her. I can just stop her and scratch her head & neck or put her on my shoulder and walk around for a bit then let her go back to playing for a bit longer. I've found if we take 10 or 15 minute breaks to calm down she doesn't get herself worked up and have a breathing "fit" :D

The kidney diet seems to be working (if I'm any judge of her poo) and she loves getting her iced cranberry juice in the afternoons!

I think the only problem we are having is she can't have any protein, but she is molting! All I can do to help her is give lots of showers and help her open the new pin feathers.

She has made an "agreement" with the cats, if they don't try to "sniff" her she won't try to bite their noses, or ears, or whiskers. They are both very intimidated by the open beak coming at them, so they stay away from me (and her) when she is out.

Now we need to start working on socialization which is very hard since I live alone and don't have visitors hardly ever. I have people in my office most days, but that's business, and I don't want just everyone touching her!

You are doing so well! I wish I could help you socialize your sweetie. She seems like just a doll. I love seeing her pictures because she has the same sweet facial expression as my OWA.

Thanks! I'm doing everything I can, she deserves it after what she has been through!

She is very sweet, and so loving! I love having her, I'm just worried she will be a "one person bird" and I don't want her to miss out on all the fun she could have if she had more human friends! But I guess for her to have more human friends I would have to invite more humans to visit and most of my friends live 90 minutes or more away from me. It makes it really hard since she has to meet people a few times before she will let them touch her at all.
