amaze me.

Yesterday I was playing around with Patches. I had him step up to a perch I was holding and he started flapping his wings so I started raising the perch up and down. He loves to flap his wings. He doesn't go anywhere he just exercises his wings. Yesterday afternoon and this morning when I went into his room he started moving his wings so I had him step up on the perch and we played again. While he is on the perch I am able to pet him from his head down to the middle of his back. If he is on his cage...he doesn't let me do more than touch his beak or his feet.

At night he says "hiiii" in a very high pitched voiced.

Progress!

Sounds like Patches is settling in well. Does Patches seem to be adjusting faster than Whisper? I ask because we are considering bringing in an Alexandrine. Buddy is so well trained and behaved I wonder how bringing in a second bird will work. I've been watching your posts and it seems like things are going well with the exception of the quarantine fun, lol.

I think Patches is adjusting to me faster than Whisper. Part of that is me though because Patches' bite isn't as hard so I'm not afraid of him as much as I am of Whisper. (BUT Whisper is really doing well.) Also, Patches did better at stepping up and being touched when we first met him than Whisper did.

I'm really looking forward to the quarantine being over. I'm not sure I will make it the full 30 days but I'm going to make it at least to 21 days...I think...I hope...I want to do what is best for my fids.

Yesterday Patches was on the open door of his cage and doing his flapping. The door kept moving back and forth from the wind of his flaps...I figured it wouldn't be long before Patches would be flying a little. And I wasn't wrong. Last night Patches was doing his usual flapping and flew from the perch to the floor half way across the room. He is such a good bird right now. I'm expecting that to change once he and Whisper are closer to each other.

He almost jumps off the front of the cage onto my arms or hands now. He loves to be around me. Yea!!!

Actually, Patches is one of the smaller zon species, which are known for their sweet and agreeable personalities. It's that big BFA Whisper you need to watch out for:eek:;)!

I bet Patches is very pleased you brought him home and have started giving him proper care:) He's going to be a wonderful little com anion (and he's SO pretty!). You'll have to post some more pics of him and Whisper soon!
