Hi all -
last night I let both Patches and Whisper out of their cages for a little while. I put Whisper on the play stand and just let Patches play on the cage (tonight I will do the opposite). After they had been out for a few minutes I saw Patches playing with one of the toys on top of the cage. I was so excited about it. :D I didn't look long because I know how the Amazon's are...if they catch you watching they stop what they are doing.

Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
I'm sure he just didn't have anything to do for so long that he simply forgot how. Over time, he will remember.

Good for Patches. He was probably a little shocked from the change in homes and may not have 'understood' the toys were there to play with. I'm sure you'll be seeing more of that (and zons are SO cute when they play!). Glad both birds kept to themselves. I bet there won't be too many problems, and they may even all become great buddies:)

Oh April - I'm sure Whisper wanted to get to the cage but he couldn't fly. I saw him flapping his wings and jump up to the ladder. It was so funny. And Patches has learned that if he sits on the door of his cage and flaps his wings his cage door will move back and forth...so he just flaps away. Birds are so funny.

That's great news! It's so rewarding to see an older parrot learn to play and have fun.
