Every so often Joe likes to remind Kiwi who rules the roost around here;) He is a brave, brave man....

Considering his options....

Opts for....kisses (wise choice!)

And ends with some hugs n kisses and a happy husband and parrot!

(Please don't take this too out of context, Kiwi tolerates Joe picking him up around the body, and more often than not offers kisses. I just got that first pic at the exact right moment:D)

WOW! What a good boy Kiwi is!

I know, he would NEVER let me do that. With Joe- he's SOOOOO angry, but loves his daddy SOOOO much. What's a parrot to do?:p Kiwi has just recently started letting me 'hug' him and kiss his head. I have to be SO slow and give a verbal cue what I'm about to do as not to scare him. Joe just marches over and lifts him up and does whatever he wants:20:

I can't "hug" Zilla yet, but I can kiss her everywhere, even on her belly or back. I can now "pet" her all the way down her back, and I can lightly touch her toes!

I've really been working hard on the touching so she will let me. I think it's important for me to be able to touch and feel her everywhere without her fearing it.

I would be afraid to pick her up like Joe is Kiwi though, she might rip me to pieces!!!

You have made leaps and bounds with Zilla! I don't think most amazons appreciate that kind of handling. My moms GCA Barney is one of those rare specimens who PREFERS to be held like that to stepping up on a hand so I've held a parrot like that many times:D They are so soft and 'pact' and you just want to squeeze and love on them and never put them down! I wouldn't try that with Kiwi though. Only Joe has that 'privilege', everyone else would receive a swift amputation or three!

Great pics! Kiwi is one very spoiled little guy and obviously ADORES your husband! It's funny AND irritating at times how birds bond to certain people. Every single bird I have LOVES my Dad, I had a male sun conure named Squirty who would fly through every room in the house searching for my Dad. He started out as "my" bird but I ended up giving him to my Dad as they both adored eachother.

Just LOOOOVE that first picture. For someone who doesn't know, it must surely look as if your handsome hubby is about to lose a digit. :D Was the wide open beak accompanied with angry growls and snarls? :54:

Sam reacts exactly the same when I scoop him up like that, but he doesn't crunch down either. Sure makes a whole lotta noise though, LOL.

Gotta love those 'bluffers'. :21:

Isn't that something else when that happens? At least Squirty has stayed in the family:) Kiwi was also SUPPOSE to be my bird (husband didn't want pets of any kind in fact). Every tiny bit of progress with Kiwi for me takes SO much time and effort and I have to be so gentle and clear with my 'intentions':20: Within a year, Joe could do whatever with Kiwi and he just accepts it. He may not have wanted a pet, but he got a best friend for life, like it or not:54::D

Yup. Lots of growling and snarls:D That special kind only amazons make. Deep down though, Kiwi seems to like that Joe roughhouses with him, he even initiates it sometimes. Is Sam also that way?

Yes, he is. A lot more so than Hunter. When he's in the mood, he will actively seek me out, dive bomb onto my chest and then flip over on his back. He then expects me to pick him up by one foot (or two) and swing him upside down, while he's shrieking with excitement. Sam LOVES rough play, he really does. :D
