Apparently she did NOT want some of my lunch put in her dish!

She got the back of my hand, no warning that I saw, but I have become accustomed to not having to pay that close of attention to her since she has never bitten me in anger! Drew a little blood, a very small puncture type scratch from the point of her beak. Normally she would have pushed my hand away, or moved away from it, or beaked my finger to keep it away from her, but not this time!

I still have no idea why, except maybe she wasn't hungry? I always give her a bite or two when I am done with my lunch, she always dives right in loving it.

I guess I will be paying closer attention in the future won't I? :D

I knew it was gonna happen, I'm surprised it hadn't happened sooner with all I have had to put her through.

Who would have thought sharing my lunch would have triggered it though?

And then she ate happily and is now very happily "singing" like a budgie to the radio! :D

I. Just. Had. To. Bite.

Haha, she's a normal 'zon. I can sense her 'zon vibes all the way to Florida! Means she's good. What a good mama you are!

Ouch! I'm sorry Zilla had to bite you, Amanda. It's hard not to take it personally, I know. Every time I was ever bitten by a parrot, it was because I was too comfortable and wasn't paying close attention.

Ouch....what was lunch? Perhaps it just wasn't to her liking? lol I don't think parrots have heard the saying "Don't bite the hand that feeds you" :)

With horses you have to fall off 7 times before you're considered a "horse person". Wonder how many times we need to get bit by a parrot before we're considered "parrot people"??

Bummer:( Guess your lunch really offended her. Or perhaps she's just in a foul mood because she is hormonal and didn't have a date for Valentines last weekend;)

Lunch was one of her favorites...Veggie fried rice left over from last night, and she dove right in after I closed her cage door. Silly bird!

Guess I'll just have to pay closer attention now. I probably was just too lax since she hasn't ever done it before.

She spent the whole day Valentines day with me :) I'm sure that counts! We were each others Valentines! :D

Welcome to the Club "Zon bitten"...... :).
Maybe she thought you want to take her food out of her dish instead of adding some more.....
I am sure she is sorry.
My DYH looks so guilty after applying more pressure with her beak than she should. I have her for 1.5 years and was bitten only once.....But I know why.....it was jealousy as I have 2 Zons....... :52:

Probably just startled.

That wasn't a bite. That was a hard pinch with a sharp point on her beak.

Amazons grind when they bite. They leave a triangle shaped cut on the thing they latch onto. And yes, I am a member of the "red triangle" club...

So, nope. Not a "for real" amazon bite... she can do better!

Did she really see you coming? I think some times they are day dreaming and are caught off guard when we reach in. This is very true with Her Majesty Miss Jillie, I need to announce my presence or bear the consequences.:54:

I'm sure she could bite harder and do more damage! That was just the worst she has ever been with me so far!

I think she was sorry after it happened. She was complete velcro and loved and kissed me, rubbed her head all over my face all evening...:D

I hope that Amanda is never a member of the "red triangle" club.

Ouch! That's bummer, but at least you didn't have to get stitches like I've heard some Zon owners do. If she really meant business you'd know it. I'm sure she was just startled. I've seen videos of Zon owners who have had their bird for 20 years and still approach with caution until the bird lets them know it's ok to get fingers close. You can see the body language is hyped up and not right in the videos for awhile until they calm down and let their guard down enough to touch them.

I am so sorry you got bitten, but at least that is out of the way:)
Perhaps she was mad because you ate too much of your lunch and she wanted more for her?
:)

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Sorry you were bitten, Amanda. The "good news" is Zilla is feeling so much better and comfortable with you - she hasn't made a habit of biting and reversing the trusted relationship.
