Hi there. I have a friend who has a yellow front amazon. He has read, and so have I that a pellet diet is best for parrots and to give nuts as treats only. The problem is that the bird is not eating the pellets. I can't remember the brand of the pellets but they are different shapes and colors. Looking on the internet I think its Zupreme fruit blend. He mixes a seed mix with the pellets and the parrot only eats the nuts on the seed mix like the peanuts and pecans. On the other hand this amazon loves fruit like bananas and grapes. He also offers boiled potatoes and the bird seems to like them. My question is: what food should he offer daily and what do you recommend for treats.

I'd give fresh veggies as the biggest portion and then whole grains and fruits. I'd leave the pellets available, at all times, but would switch to a natural one like Harrisons or TOPs. The colored ones aren't great for them.

The seeds and nuts would be treats, but it may take time to change the diet.
