I've had her just a little over a week. She's eating healthier foods easier now (mixed baby food with it she LOVES it! And hand fed her some off a spoon oddly enough)

It is an avian vet so I'm sure they will know but is there an disease tests I should absolutely have done since she is a new bird?
She seems very healthy to my eye.

Welcome to the forum. 4yrs old, i think just have the vet look him over. I assume you didn't quarantine him from your other birds, so disease testing might be a waste. BTW is he all BFA or does he have some nape in him.

What a pretty girl Chiqui is!! And she seems quite mellow and sweet, looking happy to be hanging out with you. :)

I'd have her checked for the most common diseases, yes. Psittacosis, PBFD, Polyomavirus.

Thank you!
Her DNA work says blue front. I don't see much blue there though.

She is extremely mellow and very sweet. Doesn't get jealous at all that her brother insists on being out first.
I did not quarantine unfortunately. I rarely quarantined horses either and *knock on wood* have been very lucky

Oh and first thing I want the vet to do is clip those nails. I have no issue clipping them once it's just normal growth but it looks like these haven't been touched in her life.

He recommended adding avi-con vitamins to her water as basically something he does... And he also recommended transitioning to 80% pellet diet (he uses Harrison's).

I don't plan to do that. I want her to eat pellet but not as 80% of her diet.

Also what about these vitamins in her water?

You need a better A V. 80. Percent pellets and added vitamins doesn't make sense to me. But I'm not a vet. Pellets are supposed to replace the need for vitamins unless your bird has health issues. Too much vitamin intake can cause health issues and some vitamins can even be toxic.

I've only had her 8 days. I think I posted a few pics in my intro thread.
I got her second hand so no real background info.
She came from bird paradise listed as a blue front but they don't keep true records this far out.

Yeah, I'm not sure there's any BFA in him. From the limited info my guess is nape x dyh. I could be more sure if i could see him in person. In my opinion, that should be a great mix.

Captain, is it the beak coloring along with the yellow on the head that makes you think YN/DYH, in addition to being a big (500g) zon???

Here are the photos of Chiqui:

Yes the beak color is YNA. The eye looks like it could be BFA but imo cross between YNA and DYH.

Very pretty zon. I know she's a smart girl. Could she be a feral parrot.

Sh has a leg band and came from bird paradise in nj. They sell babies.
She was born sept 2010 and DNa tested two months later.
She was purchased by a man who returned her to them in july 2012. Then the family I got her from bought her.
So I am her third home after bird paradise.

Other than that I have no background on her, besides her DNa paper and a disease test listing bird paradise as the owner dated 7/12/2012. (All negative).

Nothing else.

She isn't trained to "step up" but likes to be near and easily steps onto my forearm. Likes scratches around her ears (on her terms).
Once I think she's totally settled (she had clearly not experienced cats or dogs so just the sight of them worried her) and used to my home I will start clicker training her. She's not loud, and does say a few things.

I think you got yourself a true winner with Chiqui, especially because she allows scritches already (on her terms). She has SUCH a sweet expression, too! :)
