Amazons are the entertainers of the bird world lol. And they ALWAYS put on their BEST performance, especially when singing human songs. Unfortunately, Kiwi did not get the 'singing' memo:( He just honks like a big Canadian goose when he gets excited:31:

That is HILARIOUS!!! Unfortunately, Sammy (in my avatar), on the arrival of our CAG (who talks...endlessly) has apparently decided there's no need for him to expend the effort to talk anymore, along the lines of "Why would I keep dogs & bark myself?"

He makes lots of charming sounds, chuckles, laughs, etc., but words? Nope, not anymore. Rarely, I get a "good morning" (maybe once a month or so), but that's it.

I'm hoping he'll start up again one day...I miss his speech!

PeckerBird was my singer... She used to fly to my shoulder and do her rendition of Tutti Fruiti - comeplete with the eye flashing, head bobbing WHOOOOO! at the end... the minute I walked in the door, and then shove her head into my eye socket for an extended head scratch!

GOD HOW I MISS THAT...

None of my two current zons are singers. They are charming and funny in a lot of other ways... nape used to sing doggie in the window. We've taught Tusk a couple of songs... including a version of doggie in the window, which he doesn't do quite so well yet... he knows about half of it. Doesn't do it very often.

"How much is that birdie in the window/the one with the bright red tail
How much is that birdie in the window/I do hope that birdie's for sale."

He does do the Chicago Blackhawk's goal scoring song...

Do-doodle-doddle-doodle-Do-doodle-doodle-doodle-Do...

He also knows the eskimo kisses song, but I can't seem to get him to do it with me anymore:

"Let's rub noses, like the eskimoses..." (Sung while rubbing nose to beak of course.)

Karma (YNA) was my singer and there was nothing he wouldn't pick up let's see..Twinkle Twinkle, Sunshine my only sunshine, When the red red robin comes bob bob bobbing along, The Itsy bitsy spider, Fly me to the moon, Groovy kind of love, the Scooby Do song, Stop in the name of love, The Name Game, These Boots are made for walking, I'm Henry The Eighth I am...(kind of regretted teaching him that one!) Oh and the ones he came to me knowing were Happy Birthday, I left my heart (sang terribly off key!) and Me and you and a dog named Boo.

One time I was having my roof worked on and he was in rare form going through all his songs. When one of the workers came to say they were knocking off for the day he asked me if I had a special needs child and how sweet it was hearing him sing. His face turned very red when I said it was a parrot. I assured him it would have been an easy mistake to make and not to fret over it.

Pecker did the itsy bitsy spider, and twinkle, twinkle, little star...

And some of Old MacDonald - though she tended to butcher that one, doing some of the lyrics then going straight to the animal noises, or the EI-EI-OOOOOHHH.

A lot of times what you'd get was a loud pig snort HERE followed by EI-EI-OOOOOHHH!

In my experience, they are the only ones that seem to really take to singing and it's mostly the hot 3. I have heard greys but they tend to talk the words more than singing.
Brady my YNA sings more opera sounding stuff I have yet to hear her sing something I can discern words to but she does enjoy singing her la la la stuff! I encourage her by asking her if she is singing and then she will do it longer since she knows she has an audience.

You're right. Tusk sings, but he does talk sing...

Whereas Pecker-bird sang her little heart out...

And it's not just the singing... it's that they get CRAZED while they're singing.

The eyes go, the tail flairs, the head goes up in the air...

and they generally go into that Amazon "trance dance."

Lol! I wish Mark would sing, mostly the only talking he does is when he tries to sweet talk me out of my food
