Hi guys, just got my new DYHA few hours ago. Was choosing between a YNA and DYHA, ended up with a DYHA which I didn't regret at all

Not sure about the gender though but previous owner name him/her Coco. Coco is really a very tamed bird which I believe its because her previous owner bought her when she was a handfeeding chick.

Now Coco can step-up on my hand and my family members hands too. She started speaking 'how are you?' and mimic people's laughing too.

Below are her photos when she was perching on my hands.

:jumping40 :jumping40 Many congrats on your beautiful Coco!!! What a stunning bird!

I have ZERO doubt that you won't have a single regret! :D DYH are AWESOME!!!

Do you know how old Coco is? Do you want to know whether it's a boy or a girl?

Thank you! DYHA is one of my dream bird! Hahah.

I was told that Coco is around 1 year+ old. Yes I would love to know if Coco is a boy or a girl. Is there any other way to differentiate other than dna? Because the nearest bird store that does dna testing is quite far away from me.

The only way to know with 100% certainty is to have him DNA'ed, unfortunately. I understand you are in Singapore, but I think you could still use these services, no?
Avian Services Center: DNA sexing and disease testing for all species of birds.

Their prices are VERY reasonable!

Can you post some more pictures of Coco? With a side view of the head, and some more pictures of him perching? I will then take a guess on the gender, LOL.

IME males tend to perch with their feet closer together, and they tend to sit more upright, while females perch with their feet spread further apart.

Actually in Singapore, some birds store do have DNA test service. Just that it's located quite far away from me. If I have time, I will bring Coco over for a DNA test.

For the pictures wise, I will post more later on. As it's currently 1.48AM right here.

Thanks!

What a beautiful bird! Congrats on Coco. Obviously, DNA is the only way to know for sure, but Coco strikes me as male. Just the stance.

Thank you! The previous owner also thinks that she is a he. I will get her DNA soon!

Just so you "know", regardless if Coco is DNA'd as male or female, she doesn't care about what you've named her if you'd like to keep her name as-is:) Parrots don't have any concept of gender-associations we humans make with names and gender is pretty irrelevant unless you plan to breed her (and trust me, that isn't a good idea, you want that beautiful baby to remain a companion bird).

Awwwwww...a gorgeous birdie..love DYH's..a friend of mine who lived with me for awhile had <has> one..Shainna is her name..so cute the way she'd look at you..she'd go into a box that was on her cage floor, then stick her head out,and then say PEEKABOOO!! and pull it back into the box..I cracked up every time she did that!
