Presently have six Greenwing Macaw (17 yo), Red Fronted Macaw (12 yo), Red Lored Amazon (17 y.o.), Lilac Crowned Amazon (about 43 y.o.) and a Congo African Grey (11 y.o.)
Panama Amazon (1 Y.O.)
I don't know what it is about Lila. She's a sweet little bird, that never did anything, really, to Sally... She's never so much as pinched me in the 6 years she's been with me.

Now, I've had multiple foster Zons and Sally became fast friends with all of them. For some reason, Lila had the opposite effect. (Lila and Tusk are best buddies, and Sally is bonded with me, so it works out just fine anyway...)

But, you don't handle the two of them together.

Sally generally stays on her playstand UNLESS that other zon wants to go on "HER" cage... which is exactly what happened last night... BY THE SOUND OF THINGS YOU'D THINK WORLD WAR III HAD BROKEN OUT... but it was just amazon posturing... the birdie equivalent of "Yo Mama!"

Ever tried to MOVE two amazons who are posturing at each other?!

Then to top things off, Tusk decides to help out his little buddy... NOW WE HAVE A THREE WAY... and Sally's getting even more riled up than before, and not backing down an inch...

THE END RESULT:

One tiny pin prick from Lila. Two bruises (no blood) from Sally.
Two more pin pricks from Tusk...

Lila, the aggressor gets a time out...

Sally gets moved back to her playstand...

Tusk gets a firm "Knock it off!"

I can usually step Sally up without incident, and this was the first time Lila ever even gave me a pin prick...

Sally's former owner used to beat her with a step up perch, so I have never used one. I usually use a towel for that... Didn't have one handy in the heat of the moment.

Lila lunged at Sally as I picked her up. (She missed and got me.) Sally struck back. (She also missed and got me, then pinched me again for good measure.) Tusk saw an opportunity to get her when she was going for Lila... (and, of course, missed, and got me - TWICE!)

With all the rain we've been having, they haven't gotten outside as much as they used to... [like a couple of hours every day.]

I'm thinking it's affecting their disposition.

I've had more problems with those three in the past month, than I've had with any of them in the past five years.

I usually get bit in those situations. Hens can be the worst.

It's been a bad breeding season for the zons - two birds that have gone from ignoring each other to really not caring to share space with one another...

Plus Lila and Tusk running around making nests out of my flip flops, my door/room trim, the poop mats, and pretty much anything else they could find...

Then fighting their loss of privileges...

Plus we've had so much rain, that they aren't getting outside enough - so I think there's a "stir crazy" element to all these bad behaviors.
