2 Yellow-naped Amazons
It's been awhile since I posted on here. I have two yellow naped amazon parrots named Albert and Lorita. I've had Albert 3 yrs now and Lorita for a year now.

Well, Albert and I had complete trust, up until Lorita joined our family. Albert turned very jealous and will bite me at any chance. Up until now, I am still having such a hard time with him. I cannot carry him anymore, only with a stick. He seems to always have his eyes pinned with me and tail a little bit flared when i want to pet him. I can't interact with him like i did before since he bites all the time. I can only touch the top of his beak and SOMETIMES lets me touch his head (being super careful). AND he screams like crazy. He used to do scream only if I walked outside and he could hear me outside because he wanted me to take him outside with me. Now even if I'm in the same room he screams. People say that he sounds like someone is dying! Haha but i feel like they are exaggerating. My ears hurt for how loud he screams. And with a 11 month old, it's taking a big toll on me.

Lorita was not tamed and had no trust in me. Up until now, I am gaining her trust. Able to pet her whole back, tickle her, and she walked to me to carry her once. Still building the trust since I'm terrified of being bit again by these two birds.

I feel like I made so much progress with Lorita, but I feel like I am going backwards with Albert. Some days I feel like giving up, like I might not be a good fit for them, but I remember the days when we were so bonded together and really want that again. Help!! What am i doing wrong?

(They have two separate night cages, two separate open perches in our family living room that they stay during the day, and an aviary that we built in the backyard that they say in together with no problems only when its nice out)

I think it would be hard to get the male to like you again after introducing the hen. A good lesson to be learned about adding additional birds to pet zon.

I'm not sure if they are male or female. I was told that they may be both males but I need to get them DNA confirmed. I got some advice from someone and I saw a very small difference in the positive direction with Albert. He started saying words he hadn't said in a very long time too. I'll attempt to continue to give him the main attention and not have them in the same aviary or together at any time and see if this route works. But thanks everyone.
