I'm very pleased with the progress that Freddie and I have made. I can step him up, scratch his head, tickle his toes, and he now gives me kisses. I lean in, say "Give me kisses"...and he touches his beak to my top lip, and feels me with his tongue. Please don't scold me...I know it's probably not a good idea, and I may end up with a split lip, but I just couldn't resist. I only do that when he's in a very mellow mood! I also offer him the top of my head, and he loves to preen me. Yay!!!:)

Thanks!:) We are learning to be more comfortable with each other. The only time I get bitten now is when I bring him from his night cage to his day cage, in the morning, for breakfast.. I'm not sure why he does this:confused:...maybe he's excited...I don't know. I actually have learned to expect a bite at this time. He responds immediately to Uh Uh, but I really wish he wouldn't do it.

You doing a fantastic job with Freddie, he has made such great progress :D
About the kissing episode, if anyone is going to scold you, they must scold me as well. That is the way Mishka and I kiss each other. I always take note of what mood she is in before kissing her.

When talking :grey: out her cage, after dinner, she is so excited she nips at my hand a few times, not hurting me at all. From my side I know it's through excitement, that's just the way she re-acts. ;)

Maybe it is excitement for Freddie as well. He is a little too "excited" as the nips do hurt and do leave a mark. Oh well, at least he responds to Uh Uh...and depending on how hard the bite is, sometimes he hears Uh Uh ....FRED!!!!

I get the same kind of kisses from Rosie. They feel so good don't they?? No harm done because no bites and such light kisses that no germs transmitted. (I think!) He is a fantastic bird because of you SC.

It does feel good! I think that's because he actually chooses to "kiss" me. I leave enough space when I lean in, so that he has to lean forward a bit....so in a way, he is choosing to do it. I do wonder about germs as well. I make sure my lips are dry, so no saliva, but I suppose there's no guarantee that I'm germ free....

I've had Freddie for just over two months. I can't take credit for who he is. I just had to wait for him to trust me...All I've done really is wait, talk to him gently, and give him choices whenever possible. He really does seem to like and trust me now, but we've still got work to do...

I'm hoping for a really good relationship with him, as time goes by.
