It seems I have really upset ms Chiqui in the last two days. No I'm not really sure what I did... But it may be any number of a few options.... Nothing serious just I think I pushed my luck two days ago and might have gone over our "understanding" that we have. She's not biting but she did growl at me today when I asked her to step up and come out to her play stand. Eventually she came out but she is acting strange.
I know how to handle it (treats and opening her door and letting her come out on her own always works) but just wondering how long she may show her displeasure with me....

Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
I guess its up to the individual lol.. I have gotten Amy ticked off at me more than once, where she'd lunge at me when I'm walking around her house..usually took a day before she got over it.

And I p.o. Jonesy,my 'too once or twice when he bit me and I threw him back in his house..and boy oh boy was he MAD! he SWORE at me,using that "F" word, and he'd raise his crest and hiss at me..but within a few hours of him sitting in his house, stewing over what had transpired,he calmed right down and acted like nothing happened.

I have a Lory, Malachai, he's been holding grudge with me since Wednesday. It can take him weeks to forgive me. I clipped his nails and I had to use a towel to grab him. He's been ticked at me ever since. At least he's not flying at me to attack which he's done that before too....lol.... When I did the macaws and other birds, they've forgiven me that very day.

Well...Franklin is our green check conure and he once held a grudge with me for over 3 months!! And I didn't even do anything to deserve it. I think that is the longest standing grudge in 5 years.

Good Luck!

I think she's over it.

But now I will be ticking her off again tomorrow. Her nails are SHARP. I need to trim them or file them ASAP. She's tearing my arm to pieces.

Pretty much like wives and girlfriends...

until you suck up to them, do something special, that makes them forget all about it...

You're mad at me?! Oh dear... then who is going to play with this shiny new toy. I was planning to give it to you, but since you want nothing to do with me anymore....

What's that? You want to play with it on my lap. Okay, but watch the fingers...

NOPE! NEVER DONE THAT DANCE BEFORE.

Little extra attention. A special treat. Maybe a new toy. All is soon forgiven...

I know it sounds strange, but I can't relate when people say this. Thinking about my one bird who really loves me and is "bonded" to me, Robin, he doesn't hold grudges and never has :). He gets mad at times (legitimately or from hormones) like everyone does, but never will 'stay' mad.

My other birds unfortunately have never "given their heart" to me, but still I noticed they don't act any different even after I do something (necessary) to them that they don't like.

My conure Avery held a grudge for a week with me because I took her to a bad vet. My IRN just doesn't hold grudges, he forgives easily but mainly because he constantly wants attention anyways.

It really does just depend on the bird and how offended they are by you, hahaha!

I think it all depends. jake can be really pissed at me for a couple of hours. Especially if i've been gone for a month or so. rarely for more than a few minutes. However she remembers people/bird/dogs, etc that she doesn't like forever. I have friends who haven't seen Jake in years but if she doesn't like then she still doesn't like them. They(parrots) have a memory like a elephant.

How long do they hold a grudge? Jake and i have dealt with each other for more than forty years. If i leave for the day without waking her up in the dark (before day light) to say ggod bye and give her a kiss. She'll ignore me when i get home an let her out. It's kind of funny,,, she expects me to ask her to step up and of course she ignores me. I have to wait a certain amount of time or ask enough times before she "forgives" me. She has to "punish" me first. it's cool , i understand. They are smarter than we think.

I think it depends on the bird (Your amazon may also be a bit hormonal depending on age and season). like what was said in other posts =, some of their birds took days to even weeks to lay down their grudge while my own bird Cleo doesn't even seem to hold a grudge on me in anyway even when i clip her nails. Any way your bird should eventually give up it's grudge somewhere in the next few week or hopefully less. :)

Yep!

Sally does the exact same stuff... certain interactions are just "expected" and if you don't do them, she "punishes" you for it. She preens my eyebrows before I leave, and she has to be the first one picked up when I get home... If not, she's piss-ey and ignores me the rest of the night.
