So Davy seems to be settled in the house hold routine very well, even with me going back to school full time. We usually leave Pandora on for him, so he has classical and instrumental music to listen to.

Davy seems to have bonded with me, he calls for me when I leave the room, comes to toward me if he needs reassurance etc. He has letting me preen his head, for about 10 seconds lol, from the top or on the door of his cage.

He is still is so afraid of hands. He absolutely will not entertain stepping up on hands. He will walk on my arm to get a treat, but if I move away from the cage, even an inch, he freaks out and gets to his cage however necessary. He is afraid of sticks, and he will fly to get away from them.

I have had him for about 3 months, and from the scared bird he was when we first got him we have made great progress. I just feel we are at a stand still. I would so love to get him to step up and hold him on my hand/arm even shoulder eventually. So moving him from his cage to another to clean etc wouldn't be this stressful ordeal.

Advice? just be patient and keep on keeping on? lol

If Davy is stepping on to your arm, that's good. With time and training, he will become more comfortable with your hands. Work at keeping your hands closer to your body, not crazy close, but close enough that he can associate your hands with your face. Step by step and with time, he will become accustom to your hands and see them as something that is not attaching him but bring good things.

Sailboat,
Sounds like a plan, I will work on that more. He is fine with my hands when giving treats :) he only gets his favorite treat if he steps up on my arm and eats it from my finger (peanut butter) yesterday after my post he was in a playful mood and when I put my hand on the top of the cage he came over to play, holding onto my fingers with one foot, kinda rolling over and playfully beaking my fingers, he stepped up with both feet for a split second then realized where he was and ran back to safety (perch). ,

Happy to hear that he is all ready on is way and his effort at trying, even if he retreated. Its still a solid step forward. Enjoy the positive direction, a step or two backwards is just a opening for the next positive move. Its all about building trust. Enjoy!

It does seem very one step forward and two back. I know deep down we are making good progress, I just feel I could be doing more. I am glad you think that things going well.
