Blue-Fronted Amazon-Lucy
I got Lucy when she was 8 months old. When I had her, she was the sweetest amazon ever. Sje was having these seizure episodes and my avian vet who I will no longer see again said we didnt need to treat the seizure like eventd she had. I even recorded it and showed it to him. Well one day I woke up and she was dead. Sje only lived about 2 years. I recently rescued a blue crowned conure that I named Pippa but nobody will ever be able to replace Lucy. I am now getting a white fronted Amazon. But it still feels weird not having her around and it feels like im replacing her. I now have to drive over an hour to go to Pippas avian vet. I am just so angry about all this.

Sorry for your loss [Ive been through poor vets myself]. When Ive lost birds I find myself missing the species so much. That I end up getting another [I see mannerisms that remind me of my passed bird]. Neat your getting a White frnt ,never seen one in person.

I'm sorry for your loss of Lucy. We never stop missing them. Each bird is unique and impossible to replace.

Best of luck with Pippa and your white front. I hope you have better experiences with your current vet.

YEAH. I know what you mean. "Bonded" with a parrot works both ways, and you can't replace the bond you had with THAT particular bird.

You can build a new bond with a new bird, but it's not the same, and it's not fair to the bird to try and compare them. It will always be different.

Of all the bird's I've had I've lost two of my most bonded ever...
My BFA, and my little sun conure... I now have six that I have an astounding bond with, but it's still not the same as what I had with those two... and never could be. DON'T EXPECT IT TO BE. They are unique, and individual.

Appreciate each one for his or her own personality.

Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
I am also sorry for your loss  After nearly 28 years I lost Smokey,a Timneh, about seven months ago. I was so heart broken I was on a mission to get myself a baby Timneh to "replace" her..There is no "replacement"..she was her own individual and irreplaceable :(

I ended up adopting Jonesy, the Goffin 'Too <never had a 'Too before> and he is his own guy...but still not Smokey and never will be.

I am sorry for your loss, my friend. I too lost a treasured 'son', Max, my little BB parrot. Tiny, but oh so big inside, he was with us 6 years, in which i learned about bonding with parrots. , how each is an individual. When we decided get another bird, i was hesitant, and considered getting another BB, but Salty kinda stole my heart. I do have to remember to let Salty be his own bird, and not expect him to be Max-like. So remeber your birdy gone and rejoyce with the one you have.
