Is there a reason you suspect the breeder might not have told you the truth?

Welcome to the forum. Hard to tell from the picture. Could be a Panama, could be Yellow Crown. How much does he weigh? Get better pics on feet, cere and beak. Good chance he could be a hybrid. True Pans aren't very common and demand more money. Hence anything that could be a pan is called a Pan.

Henpecked, are you awa of whether or not the panda as at bright wood aviaries are pure? I seem to remember you being familiar with that breeder. Also. If someone wanted a true panama, would you have suggestions of where to look?

As henpecked pointed out, we'd need to see a picture of his feet, too. And his weight would be an indicator as well. How much does he weigh?

Personality wise?!

Well, she prefers to be made of velcro, BUT she still self entertains very well. When everyone else in my flock gets their tree time, she sits on the back of my chair, pressing her face against my cheek... (I don't want tree time. I want Daddy time!) While "greeting" and talking to anyone who happens to be walking by. In the short time she's been with me, she's become "well known" in the neighborhood.

She's gentle, and playful, a cuddler and a feisty finger wrestler. She has a Kung Fu grip during finger wrestling! Her feet are actually amazingly strong. When she "gets" your finger, it's hers.

She talks up a storm. Mumbles a lot, not entirely clear yet, but she's very young and she's trying very hard.

She gets along with ALL my other birds, including my Greenwing Macaw. She just wants to be everyone's buddy...

She goes to anyone, including children, and is a "complete ham" who tries to entertain everyone.

IN SHORT, SHE'S AS CLOSE TO THE PERFECT AMAZON AS YOU'RE EVER GONNA FIND! I can't even begin to tell you how lucky I am to have her! She's been an absolute DOLL from the second she arrived.

(She came from Henpecked, by the way! I still can't thank you enough...)

I paid $1500 unweaned because its supposed be a Panama Amazon I did a lot of research on the Panama and chose it ver a Grey because of what I read pertaining to their personality traits.

That is why I woyld really like to know if indeed I do or do not have what I paid for

Either a Pan, or a Pan hybrid with some YCA in him. You really can't tell. And the differences would be somewhat miniscule.

I certainly wouldn't complain if that were my bird.

Socialize him properly and you will have a companion bird like my Kiwi!

They are goofier than CAGS, they self entertain a little better, they are a lot more "touchie-feelie," and they are less prone to plucking disorders...

BUT they can develop territorial behaviors during breeding season, once they hit full maturity, all pair bond birds can over bond if allowed to, and you can trigger "amazon overload" if you get them too wound up. (So far it hasn't happened with Kiwi, no matter how wound up I get her she hasn't drawn blood.) But all zons have that propensity... so you have to be aware of it when playing with them.

In that case Birdman, Flick and Kiwi came from the same breeder :) When did you get her? I was there in October 2013 and snuggled (and almost left with!) a young panama.
