Grey and amazon Grooming each other?

I walked by my bird room the other day and glanced in and there sat my BFA on my Greys cage grooming Greyson.

I whispered over to my wife " come here check it out'...We thought, is that normal for these two distant species? I have to look that up, but thought I'd throw this out there at the forum to hear what they have to say or have had similar.

My Grey sitting there head cocked to one side, Poppie grooming him up the neck and head, both muttering something to each other.

I want to get it on camera, but as usual, get the camera out and they stop what they're doing and freeze up.

They obviously get along, and while they're 2 completely different species from different continents, they still recognize each other as parrots.

My Raven and Griffin are a bonded "couple". Both males, and one is African and one is South American. Also a big difference in body size. They're the odd couple, but definitely a couple.

That's interesting,coz my experience with Amy,the BFA,and Smokey <r.i.p> the Timneh Grey was just the opposite!

Smokes was the first bird..wild caught,then in came Amy..she was 16 weeks old <now 27> and Smokey was a little over a year old..and boy oh boy was she a jealous little so and so!

Both birds out on the floor together,Amy wanted to make friends <she is like that,wants to be buddies with Jonesy the 'Too> and Smokes would have no part..she would walk up to Amy all nicey-nice,and as soon as Amy's back was turned,Smokey would yoink on Amy's tail then run away!
The very last time I let them mingle,the two went beak to beak,where Smokey bit Amy's tongue,that required five stitches! :11: NEVER again would I let them get together! Consider yourself lucky lol.

Mine do all the time.

The feed each other as well.

Where ever one goes, the other is sure to follow.

They are quite bonded. Pick up my CAG and walk across the room, and leave the Lilac Crowned Amazon behind, she becomes quite upset. (Doesn't work both ways. My CAG doesn't stress if you pick up the zon and walk off with her.)

I handle them as a pair... One on my hand, one on my forearm, usually.

They're "buddy birds."

Birds of a feather flock together!!

My TAG shares a room with 6 Toos of 2 different species and there is no mutual interest of any sort. ET has his own cage unlocked 24/7 and will on occasion fly to other cages, but there is never any aggression. Of course plenty of food/water and toy resources reduces competitiveness but thankfully territory issues are nonexistent!

All mine do is chase each other around the room nothing serious no beaking they feed out of each others cages but won't tolerate each other being too close

The Odd couple....Aww that's cute, That's what we all hope for when having multiple parrots.

My Timneh and Senegal are like that, would snatch one another, but it comes down to, " stay out of my space and I stay out of yours, and they're basically fine that way.

Their good old buddies.

Sydney was kept with a Grey for a short time before he came to me, and Gonzo was kept with a BFA his whole life who he was super buddy-buddy with, so to me, this seems like a very common pairing! Both of mine are supposedly male, and while I don't leave Sydney and Gonzo together unsupervised yet, Gonzo has tried to preen him a but but Sydney was having none of it. I let Sydney discipline him when it's something that he doesn't like (Growls and threatens, won't attack him) so hopefully Gonzo learns his limits!
