Not to discriminate against the other zon parronts, but since Im specifically going for a YS I thought I would ask questions to those parronts that own one or has worked with one closely. I know there are not that many YS owners on here but Im taking my chances.

Questions:

1. DO they talk well?

2. How cuddly or close can you get to them? I know zons are not known for being all cuddly but just wanted to know.

3.What pellets are they on? I know ive asked this before but only Wendy answered me on this...:confused:

YES Dad here.

Salty talks very well and is learning new stuff almost every day

He is not 'cuddley' but likes he scratches once a nite. He like to play rough, on his back and attack my hand while I mush his head a bit and tickle his belly.

He eats Rudybush pellets big and small, veggies and fruit. Eats almost constantly. Very curious and lots of energy. At about a year old, he is a active boy. He is sitting on the top of my tablet right now, trying to eat the cover.

I have always looked at the Wonderful World of Amazons as a family. Yes, and with any family there are differences between individuals. But at the end of the day, they are all family.

In our family, we have some that cuddle and some that would never want too. Some that talk all the time, others that scream all the time, and others that are so silent its concerning. Still others are into learning everything or into everything near everyday and still others that do little more than fill a corner.

As parents, grandparents and yes, even as great grandparents, we want and pray that our newborn will be perfect and all of us count fingers and toes. But as most parents know, perfect is not always a reality.

In today's World; Designer Children are a near reality, a follow-along to the already Designer Pet. The reality is; the perfect parents with the perfect heritage will not always provide the perfect child, chick, pup, or kitten. In short, just because most will likely meet your wants, there is no assurance. Each Amazon is its own special bundle and whether you attain great joy is more about you than the Amazon.

Delighting in the specific abilities, whether wide or limited, of your Amazon, is the true mark of a loving parent worthy of Amazon Love. Successful Amazon people (for the point of view of the Amazon) are highly accepting of what they get and love that reality dearly.

Wants are nice, but Amazon reality is that they are each their own individuals and that is why Amazon People Love Their Amazons.

Welcome to the Wonderful World of Amazons. What you bring to this World is more likely an indication of you becoming a successful Amazons Parent, than what your Amazon brings. If you love them for what they are, they will return that love many times over.

Although Monty is a DYH, this describes him perfectly as well, even down to the Roudybush.

Only thing I'd add is when something new is introduced to the environment that is disruptive (i.e. dinner company, Roo) he will either get clingy and want to sit close to your head on your shoulder, or want to be left alone on his playstand.

I think SailBoat's post summarized it correctly - the behaviour of one YS Amazon is not an accurate predictor of all YS Amazons. For example, it sounds like Wrench and I's birds were seperated at birth.

Oh yeah, Sailboat nailed it. It was just that some of Rat's desirable points happen to be hit by my Salty. Its def different for each bird. My last bird Max could care less what you put in his cage or pretty much anything.. very indifferent to changes.

Salty does the whole "W..Wh.. Wha..WHAT IS THAT?? ITS GONNA KILL US!!! RUN !!! "
but not about everything, just about things. Food, he is OK to try most stuff, after all, Dad put it in my food bowl. It must be food!
