Amy a Blue Front 'Zon

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
..out for a ride,to the donut factory first, for a hot chocolate for me,and a plain munchkin for the girl, then off to AllPets again..

There was a slew of 'keets in a huge house, just chattering away making so much racket and didn't even pay attention to Amy while she was on my hand checking them out. Then we visited the Bee Bee's again. Amy looked for her buddy but none of them showed interest either.

Then we saw a large topless enclosure that had a dozen or more "sunday" conures and they were chasing each other and chirping away. Now the top was off,so you could bend over and put your hand down and have one climb on to your hand. Amy was on my shoulder and was watching these little guys, and she started 'zon speak, and it seems like she was calling to them.. I swear, the whole group of them just stopped what they were doing and just looked at Amy and I lol.
The attendant told me they were only a month and a half old and VERY friendly. So I lowered my hand into the masses and sure 'nuff, one of the little guys hopped right on,
So Amy was on my shoulder, and I slowly and carefully raised the sunday so it was about a foot from Amy..And Amy says "hello biiiiiiirrrrdddd" lol <my son would say that to Amy when he fed her> The attendant and I looked at each other and burst out laughing lol

It seems that the pet store is taking real good care and handling them. I was able to pick any up..give head skritches, and just generally handle them..a couple did "rolls" in the wood shavings that was on the bottom of the enclosure..they all had their arms trimmed and none tried to escape from being handled..The couple I did handle, Amy would mumble to..fluff her face up and pin her eyes, even went beaky la beaky with one.

But I almost pooped myself when he told me the price! $700!! Gezzz...and the Green Armed Bee Bee's weren't $349...they were $500!! Dang..INFLATION!! I only paid $400 for Amy..ya that was in 1990...but still  :( :11:
And they didn't have any 'teils...guess I'll have to google for local 'teil breeders..sighhhh

LOL..:D Well I googled teil breeders in CT and there is a large breeder,of all sorts of different birdies,in Stamford, which is very close to the NY line..mapquest puts it at like 53 miles from me. The name is Parrots and Company..so I'm going to give them a jingle later...they don't open until 11 am EST..
Their website listed baby 'Teils available in May!! :p...put to "call for prices". I'm going to see if they will allow Amy to come with me,so SHE can do the looking, and perhaps choosing. < Now if I can get her to PAY for the baby lol>

I'll let y'all know what I find out!

A shame that the sun conures were so expensive...they are expensive here too...Ive never seen Bee Bees here had to look them up to see what had tickled Amys fancy but hopefully Amy will find a buddy among the tiels and they wont be too expensive. I would check the breeder out though before you go there just to be sure you are bringing Amy into a clean and healthy environment to pick his future buddy and yours too...Best of Luck with the Buddy hunt ...Amy is so Adorable :)

The large Breeder may not allow Amy into their facility, remember Bio-Safety is a two way issue. lol.

Always worth leaving your name and number at the pet center just in case something 'pops-up.' Also at your Avian Vet.

I just talked to the people at this place...you are right, they will not allow me to bring Amy with me..I felt kind of put off with them because they "didn't have time" to talk or listen to me. I tried to explain Amy isn't your ordinary 'zon but she was too busy to listen :(

The starting price for a 'teil is $175...a lot less than a Bee Bee or Conure...unfortunately I have to be in work by 5:30pm and they are 53 miles in one direction from me,so a visit today is out of the question. I could prolly be there by 11:00am tomorrow <that's when they open for business>.
Geeez I wish I could take the little girl with me so SHE could pick out HER new bud.
We'll see what tomorrow brings..

I hope you find the perfect companion for Amy. She sounds like a real social butterfly.

Jiim, search Yellow Wing Canary or Parrot instead of Bee bee parrot - thats an old name for them, as was pocket parrot.
You might have more luck.

My Maxie was a BeeBee, and he was quite a character. Like a mini shrunken Amazon.

Al, I could call 'em "late for dinner" if I wanted...at $500 its still too expensive for my tastes lol.

$175 FOR A COCKATIEL! ARE YOU SERIOUS????

They're easyish to come by here, unlike most parrots, and are around the $100 mark for a hand raised babe.
