RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
Good luck Jim! Despite the hazards of surprising Amy, she seems so loving and accepting of other birds the chances of success are high.

Pics definitely!!!

Ok I'm baccccckk! :D The place was amazing! In business for 38 yrs. They breed and raise the youngsters right there! Only birds they don't breed are 'keets. Greys,Too's,Macs..even Hyacinths! love birds,teils,finches..all sorts..they make their own packaged chop/food..

Sooooo...I got a Grey Teil :D.. 14.5 weeks old..Dont know the sex yet..The guy said after the first molt,if he/she has a yellow noggin its a male. SUPER friendly..Loves to be cuddled and have head skritches.. :p

So I got a bunch of stuff lol..A bag of "weaning mix".. The guy says you bring it to a boil and let it simmer 30 minutes, rinse thoroughly and feed a little in the morning and evening..Keep it up til the bird doesn't want it any more. He/she eats ZuPreem Fruitblend pellets and their own mix of "Premium Cockatiel Blend"..I also got some millet thingies..and toys..foraging toys..toys with strands of paper to shred and when the mini stainless cage that has the strands is gone,it can be used to hide nutraberries in it.

As soon as I took "him" out of his carry box and Amy saw him,she says "Whats that??" lol too funny. I'm going to give it a while before I introduce them.

Heres a picture..now I need help naming him lol.

Been thinking...Tuffy..Corky..Mrs Tiel..still time to think.

I put him in his house so he could look around...then I wanted to play with him :p! I put my hand in and he got right on my finger..such a light weight compared to Amy lol.. I couldn't resist..I walked up to Amy's house and she climbed down from her resting perch, and just looked at him, with her beaky mumbling, and the little guy just sat on my finger, wasn't afraid < He was in an "open" table with three other teils when I got him..and he has already let out a couple chirps...he is now on my shoulder beaking my fingers..he's raised his "hat" a couple times.

In a week or two I'll make an appointment with Amy's doc and bring him in for a wellness check..let him settle a little. I am very surprised on how calm he is...likes to nibble my ear lol..I think I'm going to get into him more than Amy will lol

Oh...heres a pic of one of the Hyacinths they have..stunning to say the least.

The guy and I were talking about how birds REALLY DO use words/phrases in context.. I related the story of Smokey..how I tried on day to get her on my hand..and she looked me square in the eyes and said " What the h*** are you doing"??
He told me a story...had a guy come into the place to board a 'zon..and had him in a carry box..the two guys were talking and they heard a muffled "help!..HELP!!"..and thought it was a bird in the store..the bird said "help help" again..and noticed it was coming from the box..they looked at each other and the bird again said HELP! GET ME OUT OF THIS BOX!!...lol...the guys almost pooped themselves..he said HONEST! a true story! lmao

Fly free Plum, my gorgeous boy.
Congrats, super gorgeous little fella/girl.

Hope Amy takes to him/her OK. I am sure a name will pop up out of the blue, maybe Amy will give you a suggestion but hopefully bit better than "what's that?" LOL
