A Little Secret...

With a huge personality!

I've been talking with the local chapter of a parrot rescue for a few months. The adoption coordinator and I really hit it off, and I gained a friend as well as a girl I've been hiding for a few weeks. We're technically still fostering her for at least another month or so, but I think at this point it's safe to say she is staying.

Meet Roxy the BFA. She's roughly 20 years old and full of spunk. She's a character, as most Zons are. We spent the majority of our wait preparing my partner for the new addition, as this is her first parrot experience. Shouldn't have worried...Roxy LOVES her and tolerates me. Isn't that always the way? She is improving, and it's only been a few weeks. We're loving her silly antics and enjoying every little moment of her bonding with us.

Ha ha ha you and your partner have been trapped by the overlord Amazons. It may not be too late but I fear it is! I see the signs of their mind control in the few pics they have allowed you to post. Rapturous smiling, the look of adoration, their living quarters even now filling up ever more devious toys designed not for them, oh no, but for you slave, to keep them ever filled and changed with new ones when her Lordship becomes bored with them. Then they secret that wonderful Amazon mind control cinnamon like cookie smell, and you are even more trapped. Yes, I am afraid it is too late for you. You are owned by an AMAZON. Welcome to this colony of slaves

Also Congrats on becoming slaves (right-on Wrench), to a BFA.

Since your partner in all of this may not have the background in Amazon Body Language, please have her read the Thread at the top of the Amazon Forum. Even since they are hitting it off so well, it will just help to cement the relationship and avoid miss -steps that may occur. Amazon's love to be read too, so also include that.

Again, Congrats!

Congratulations on your Adorably Beautiful addition to your family...Roxy is Gorgeous and as Wrench13 said she's already figuring ways to keep her slaves busy :) Sailboat gave you a wonderful tip asking you to get your partner not only to read the thread entitled: "Amazon Body Language" but to also read it out loud to your Amazon...it will ward off manys the accidental nip or bite as Amazons are so easy to read and also give you some insight into the many things they do ... Best of Luck with Roxy :)

1 BFA- Kiwi. Hatch circa 98', forever home with us Dec. 08'
Congratulations of joining the very exclusive "owned by a blue front" club:D Roxy looks like the picture of health and like she'll be a lot of fun! She looks like a 'puffer' (some zons seem to like to stay fluffy most of the time, others seem to like to stay sleeked bak most of the time). Is she also a consistent vocalizer (pretty parrot noises, usually the fluffy ones also like to make beautiful noises). If so, lucky you! Zons can make some of the prettiest noises you'll ever hear. I'm excited for you, you are going to love having a permanent green resident in your home!

P.S. Kiwi gives a big wolf whistle to the pretty girl too and would like to invite her to share some pineapple and mango sometime;) :green:+:green::40::smile015::smile020:

She is a puffer, and definitely a chatter. She likes to make a rolling "r" sound, sing a variety of different words in all kinds of fun tunes, and is consistently talking all the time.

Her favorite phrases are, "Hello" (usually multiple times...HELLOhelloHellooo...pick me up now!), and "Cracker." Everything is a cracker...if she wants it, you'll get an "Mmmmmm. Cracker?" I'll have to show Roxy her potential new beau. ;)

Thank you everyone! We are thrilled to have her and I'm glad to finally share her. I've read over the Amazon Body Language thread for refreshers a few times before and since getting her. I've read it to K once, but seeing as she isn't much of reader, I guess I'll be reading aloud to both the girls. Can't hurt! :green:
