Yellow Shoulder Amazon, Salty
Almost impossible once they fledge to tell the age of any parrot. Seems like its younger, only because most blue fronts I have seen have a lot of yellow/red at the top of the shoulders, and this one is just a little bit of yellow. As far as sex.. totally impossible unless they drop an egg ( female) or you have it DNA tested.

I have a male 17yr old Orange Wing Amazon named Mr. Precious & a 15yr old female Harlequin Macaw named Merlin & a 3 year old male GW named Rocco.
I read somewhere recently that you can buy dna test kits on-line & just mail in for results. I was thinking of testing my zon, but since I already had him tattooed on my back with his name, I don't want to know.

Not a guarantee... but if he humps your leg hes probably male.. Now if he closes his eyes while humping your leg... it means he thinks you are one ugly bird. )~~

Well, clearly its a Blue Fronted Amazon and old enough to be well though its baby molt and likely beyond.

With a couple of exceptions, once an Amazon is beyond this point, setting their age becomes a point of a detailed physical examination. And, even that will only get you a 'On the Young Side', Mid-Age or an Older Amazon. Does the Parrot have a band on its leg? Sometimes a Breeder will provide a band with a birth date, but not always.

Short a visit to a Avian or qualified Avian Vet, that's the best anyone here is going to be able to do for you, i.e.: 'On the Young Side.' In truth, the Vet will not be able to provide not much more in the way of their specific age.

With a couple of exceptions; Just looking at a Parrot will not provide any clue as to there Sex. In the past, it required a surgery to determine, but today, a DNA test can be used to define a Parrots Sex. I am on the side of strongly recommending having a Parrot tested to determine its Sex. First, its saves the issue of 'ooops' later on, either as a result of your guy laying an egg or having your girl DNA tested and finding you have a guy. There are also minor diet considerations between Males and Females, but they are very minor, unless your hen has issues with being egg bound.

I am assuming that based on the limited information provided, you are considering an Amazon. Please take the time to read the first Thread in the Amazon Forum, high lighted in blue, you will need to understand your Amazon's Body Language and yes it is required to learn it.

So, a little more about you:
