Hi all , I'm looking for good websites that sell toys for my Amazons at affordable prices preferably in the U.S , if any one of you have favorites that you'd like to recommend please feel free to do so. Also what are your favorite kinds of toys that you leave to your fids unsupervised , I have a paranoia of accidents happening while I'm not at home with them and have had experienced some accidents in the past which only makes me more skeptic in the types of toys I trust to leave with them when I'm not around. I know all toys pose some risk but I would like some recommendations of toys that you all think are least harmful and ones that you leave to your fids when you're at work. Also do share favorite toys of your fids , I seem to have trouble finding any that my fids love , they have already refused to even go near the swings, or foraging toys , even the stimulative toys like those mobile phones that talk , they only seem to like colourful plastic toy links so if you all have any ideas please do share , thanks :)

Anuska... I'm still pretty new here, and toy safety was/is a big issue for me. I did an experiment and used the SEARCH engine here for "toys", "toy safety", and similar. Lots of good threads came up. Unlike SOME sites, the SEARCH here is great!
Meanwhile, I'm sure members will have current thoughts to add.
Welcome to the Forums!

P.S. One of my favorite toy stores is my house.
Empty toilet paper rolls
PVC pipe fixtures stolen from my ol' man's tool-shed
Coconut shells (thanks to Wrench13 for that one)
Stainless flatware
Twigs/branches from safe/untreated shrubs/trees
Etc., etc.!

It's according to what you want and where you are. My Safe Bird Store carries quality products and there are no birds on the premises, so no worries about communicable diseases. I don't order from them often because of the long distance shipping charges.

My Safe Bird Store | Discounted Bird Products | BIRD FREE ENVIRONMENT| Free Shipping Available

I order regularly from Drs. Foster and Smith, I am in a remote area, my local pet stores just don't carry the products I need. Drs. Foster and Smith have a huge variety of food, toys and other products. I've never paid shipping charges.

Pet Supplies | Dog & Cat Supplies, Pet Meds | DrsFosterSmith.com Pet Products

Have fun! Shopping for bird toys is highly addictive!

Or you may prefer DIY, we have a lot of toy making ideas in the DIY forum.

And another good link on toys and safety issues.

Add to the above sources:

Parrot Island Pet Store located in MN US

Home Depot, Lumber Department's Cut Bin (Scrap) or other like Big Box Stores

DIY: If you're into Parrots, you will quickly develop a bin of reject toys or chewed toys that are no longer interesting to the Chew Monster. Mix and match and create your own versions. After awhile, you will be buying more pieces and parts that completed toys. But you have to start somewhere.

Plastic toys are nice, but your Parrot will not get the full benefit of chewing a wood toys into tiny pieces. So, use plastic toys a part of the overall offering.

NOTE: With young Parrots it is more important that the Wood is 'soft' and easy to chew (you can easily crush or indent the wood surface with a finger nail. In the Big Box or Lumber yards it is refer to as trim lumber (Pine).

Have fun and you must come to the understanding that wood toys are by design provided to be chewed into tiny pieces regardless of what it cost you or how long you worked to create it.

Thank you all so much for your advice , I have ordered my first batch on abirdtoy.com , so we'll see how it goes.I am so excited to see what turns up, as for the wooden chew toys I think I will source those pieces locally rather than buy online.Thank you all again for your input :)

Oh also, if youre interested in soft wood, i use soft white pine wood. I get it from this lady in Toronto, i found her on Facebook. Her page is called josie and bb's wood wafers. My amazon is a baby so he loves the white pine. And my parent's galah who is the laziest when it comes to wood chewing took to that wood anx enjoyed it. She does different sizes and thinness. I know shes in Toronto but shipping was nothing. I think was getting charged high shipping from people who lived in the states than her in Toronto.
