Hi , my name is Ashley I be made a couple other post but I'm really proud and wanted to share!

We adopted Jake almost a month ago.
Jake is a 23 year old BFA who has been re
homed multiple times due to screaming/aggressive behavior.
He always ended up back with his original owners, who also couldn't even let him out of his cage with out Jake lunging and attacking.
Jake was always cared for and was a really nice bird, untill he reached maturity. He then wouldn't let ANYONE handle him, I'm not joking when I say they never thought this bird would be held again.

I started taking Jake to the training stand and would talk to him, and mimic him and then having him step up and saying good boy and giving him a treat (over and over again)
Then he would get in the stand and lift his foot up right away like hold me again, now I've been holding him for almost an hour and he's flipping upside down. Im so incredibly happy with his improvement. Omg I can't believe it!:green::

Good job! Blue Fronts are very lovable and social critters ;) My Amy is 27 and I have had her since she was 14 weeks old. In her "teen" years, yes she was a handful at times  Especially when it was "that time" of year for her
However, since day one,I have always socialized her < VERY important to do1> and she goes everywhere with me,and meets a lot of people, and even strangers can handle her <gotta read body language first!>

Today, I had to go to the local Walmart and she came with me. She rode on the carriages handlebars and as we went down the isles she just talked to whomever gave her attention lol.
Then we stopped at the local donut shop..me for a cup of java, and for Amy,a plain munchkin. < All the girls at the donut shop love her and offer her the munchkin, which she gleefully excepts, then promptly tears it apart lol>

Personally..I think Blue Fronts are the sweetest of the "hot three" Amazons, but people on this great forum might disagree .

I see you have an AG named Smokey. I had a Timneh AG also named Smokey. She was 27 when she passed away about 1.5 years ago.
If you look at the thread called "remembering" in the African Grey section, you can see a couple pictures of her.

So, talk to your BF..sit and READ to him/her..honestly! they like to be read to! You'll go along way.

Jim

Thank you guys so much! That's wonderful that you take amy out! I want to but I'm so concerned about a gust of wind blowing and taking my lovies with them! Once they've mastered target training im going to work on getting them in a harness! But I have him out of the cage all the time and we are always talking and playing! I have a bunch of toys I'm eventually going to try to teach them. We really want a chance to raise a parrot from when it's a baby, both our baby's have been older rehomes, which has been very rewarding being able to gain an older birds trust, but I just now I'll be able to teach a bird so much from starting training as a baby. I think we are actually going to be adopting a double yellow headed amazon Buddy who's only a couple years old within the next couple years, that my boyfriend's grandma is looking to rehome soon(that's where we got Smokey and jake), and then we are going to add a baby cockatoo to our family! ( good thing we are planning on buying a house!)
