This morning Buddy came out to visit me and he's hormonal right now. Well he climbed on the back of my chair and was making his puffy cheeks, goo goo eyes, purring strutting back and forth on my chair. I turn to look up at him and I see a spider coming off the lamp directly heading for Buddy and me. Buddy saw the spider and took off, or maybe it was my scream, lol. The spider was about 1.5", where did Buddy go, he was on the floor sitting next to Canelo, our 70 lb bulldog, lol. Buddy very happily stepped up and resumed his flirty little way. What was interesting is when Buddy saw the spider, he leaned away from it before taking off, he's my little green chicken, lol!

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
My sweet Smokey was fearless! If she was out and saw something making its way across the carpet, she had no problem running up to it,look at it,then promptly CHEW it to bits lol.

Buddy's my hero! I have a very serious, horrible, innate psychological fear of ALL insects and arachnids. I don't know why, I've had it since I was probably in junior high school or so, I don't remember ever having this problem prior to being 13 or so. It's my only real fear or phobia, I love all reptiles, amphibians, mice, rats, bats, etc. I can handle, pet, snuggle, and cuddle with snakes, frogs, turtles, salamanders, rats, you name it, but if I'm aware of any type of insect or spider that is even in the same room as me (this can be a tiny room the size of a closet or a massive room the size of Walmart) I experience an automatic fight or flight response that is completely out of my control....It's actually really embarrassing when it happens because I'm a very athletic person and an avid mountain bike rider, hiker, fisherman, camper, etc., and inevitably I get laughed at as I'm running away from a little ant like Lolo Jones...

So Buddy, I feel ya bro...

Arachnids like ME!
I have been bitten by 4 spiders in my life, one of them a Brown Recluse. For some reason, they seem to want to hunt me down and bite me.
I DON'T LIKE 'EM!

My brother has one of the hugest spider phobias I've seen. I went to his house to get some plywood. It's in his attic and he pulls down the attic door and tells me to go on up. The door was covered with webs and spiders!!!! I looked at him and told him he could go up. He walks off and comes back with a vacuum, a long spider attachment to suck up spiders, AND the hugest can of bug spray ever. I died laughing! Talk about being very prepared!

I too am often armed with the vacuum in my right hand (several options for attachments depending on the type and size of the demon), a can of spray poison in my left hand, and I usually am wearing thick work gloves and boots. Then there's the problem of the cleanup after you kill it...I'm getting nauseous just thinking about it. This is the only reason I love winter and snow...No bugs!

I seriously have considered getting married again just so I have someone here at all times to kill and dispose of all insects and spiders in the house, spray stuff all around the outside of the house, get things out of the attic/basement, etc. It's almost worth it....
