And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
It has been a while since Amy has been out and about,so I had a few errands to run,and asked her if she wanted to join me. Of course she agreed :green: :p so our first stop was at my local town hall to pay the electric and sewer. There were about five ladies there behind the counter for help.
When they saw Amy come in on my shoulder, they all "ohhhh and ahhhh'd" about her and came up to take a look and ask questions.
One gal asked if she was friendly, does she talk, bite :)eek::D) etc.

Amy was quiet, not a peep from her,and was very calm, perching on my hand. I told the gal to extend her hand to mine and just ask Amy to "step up". she asked and Amy complied, lifting one footsie, with a little "uncertain" hesitation, and walked right onto the gal's hand. More "oohhhh's and ahhhh's" and I could tell the woman was so excited about having my little green girl on her hand.
Out came the cell phones from the rest of them, taking pictures.
Amy seemed nonchalant about the whole thing but the ladies were all giddy and smiles lol. A
my obviously was a big hit with them!

The next stop was the local donut factory for a cup of joe :44: for me and a plain munchkin for Amy. We drove around to the parking lot where there were four of our regular buddies hanging out by the cars. Amy sat on the side rails of Richs' pick-up as I talked about her to the others.
Rich was sitting in his truck,it started to sprinkle, and started to get a tad chilly, where Amy then fluffed up a bit and started to quiver a bit. I put Amy on Richs' door ( window fully opened of course). Rich started the truck to put the heat on,and I didn't notice he had put work gloves on and Asked her to step up. She poofed up in an instant and latched onto Richs' gloved hand! ( Amy has never seen a glove in her life, doesn't even know what they are )
His instinct was to shake his hand, and poor Amy,with a fresh set of short sleeves on her arms,fell/flailed to the pavement! I immediately picked her up,while poor Rich was yelling "OMG OMG is Amy ok Jim?? OMG I'm so sorry!!"
Amy was fine, and so was Richs' finger lol.

The last stop was her favorite place,to see her favorite fans, the green armed bee bee's,and for a toy for her and a bag of treats for Beebs.
As we walked into the "bird" room...we could hear all sorts of twittles and chirps and whistles going on.
There was a large round house, with a dozen Beebers in it,all normal greys, just like BB. Amy saw them, thought they were BB lol..and started yelling HELLO!! HOW ARE YOU??? Those little tiels stopped in their tracks,up went their hats, eyes bugged out..and they all RAN to one perch, and huddled together like they were a street gang, ready to rumble lol.
The green armed bee bee's ( about 6 of them) saw Amy,ran to the glass panel, climbing over each other,to get a better look at the big green monster. They all started to twittle and chirp to her,as she mumbled back in 'zon lingo, bobbing her head, having a good time.

Then...back to the car...and back home.
Despite her little incident at the donut factory,I still think she had a good time.

OK...SORRY for being so long :34:

I LOVE taking jazz out and I think she enjoys it too. It's windy here in Wyoming and when it blows she often becomes vocal, singing in the wind! People love to come up and ask questions. one question always comes up, "she doesn't fly away?" I'm surprised at how many people talk about how their tiel would never just sit on their shoulder like jazz does or that their tiel is mean. I think if they spent more time with them they wouldn't be like that. I haven't met a parrot that doesn't prefer to be on my shoulder lol. Do you harness your birds?

Anyways, thanks for sharing :) I just wish my tiel was a talker. I'm considering getting a male since I recently lost my sun conure to a fatal accident. I'm afraid jazz might lose interest in me though if I did. I'd love to see jazz become a mother though. baby tiels are the cutest things ever!

YUM..I read your thread about loosing your beautiful Peanut, I left you a post, but again will tell you I am so so sorry! :31:

No Amy gets short sleeves on her arms ( they are my KIDS to me..so short sleeves on their arms means clipped feathers on her wings..I know...I'm an odd duck  ), usually twice a year...once in spring ( just did about two weeks ago) and once in mid summer. In the winter time I let her sleeves get long coz she doesn't go outside then)

BB doesn't go out,so he is left fully sleeved, plus he is just over a year old and want him to be very proficient at flying.
Amy never fledged, and has no clue on how to fly  She has gone flapflapflap a few times in her almost 30 years with me ( She picked me when she was just four months old)and ends up crashing to the ground in just a few short feet )

At a very young age I began to take her to ALOT of places,to see new things, meet new people, get accustomed to noise, and to just have FUN!
She loves going outside..or rides in the car.
Off to the donut factory..walmart..autozone..her doctors...MY doctors..( he always asks,"where is Amy? How's she doing??"She goes to friends house's.. We took a ride a couple summers ago to meet Al (Wrench13) and Salty.
As a youngster she was my co-driver in my tractor-trailer I owned at the time.
She is very well socialized and 97% of the time she acts as the perfect young lady that she is.

BB is also very social..even tho he doesn't go out with me,he meets anyone who comes to visit me. He readily will jump on your hand, run up your arm,and begin to whistle,or talk, right in your ear!
He learns things pretty dang fast..Talks well...whistles like a pro, loves cuddles and skritches..he is an awesome little 86 g's of fluff. Never a dull moment with him,and he is ALWAYS a little happy camper lol.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
That was an awesome "trip report" Jim! I'll bet Amy has opened more doors to friendship than an "ordinary" dog or cat could ever.

Hey Jim, you still using the Car Perch I made for Amy? Maybe you can take a few pics of her on it and how it's made? I have not gotten around to making a new one for Salty, gotta down size the perch diameter for him.

My expectation for Salty this year is to finally have him harness trained by Fathers Day, so he can accompany me and the boys on stage at the Long Island Pirate Festival, held that weekend. Did I tell you I had him out and about, in his Pack-o-bird, in the convertible with the top down last year? He loved it, singing and shouting at the cars. SO this year, maybe we can meet in the middle, at a nice bird friendly tavern, so we can enjoy a few local brews and the fids can amaze and entertain the troops? Or we can just revert to what we did last year? I am getting itchy for my dose of AMY! and BeBe !

Al...you gave Amy Saltys' perch???? Awwwww mannnnnn!!

Yes Al.anytime she goes for rides I bungee the perch to the front seat..it is awesome! She gets a great grip on the twine, and now that she just had her nails done, she would not be able to hold onto my leather seats in car,but she can dig right in to the twine.
The next time we go out and about I will surely take a few pictures.

ya a halfway meeting/birdie friendly place would be so cool, we'd be the talk of the tavern for weeks lol..and Salty and Amy could drive us home :D
