Archeopteryx....a.xanthopteryx.... practically evolutionary siblings, if you ask me!

For reference, this creature is an archeopteryx:

And no matter what, NEVER let a xanthopteryx fool you into thinking it is a "cute" or "nice" creature. That "halo" he appears to have is just the doom rays radiating off him:D

The physics involved in an Amazon changing the atmosphere around their head, which results in that "halo" has taken a million years to prefect. In fact, what this male Amazon has is, as stated above, doom rays radiating off him. If you come closer he will explain it to you, one chump at a time! :D

Thanks, for the minder of just how ingenious Amazons really are behind the appearance of an Angle!

Way to go Kiwi!

From the drama play that can last like what seems forever, to the yelling and screaming, right-up to the first droplet of water, you would believe that our Julio hates to shower. After that first droplet of water, he turns into the Shower show-off - twist, turns, full wing spread, running back and forth into and out of the water. It's near the presentation of those old movies where they do those pool dancing things. Anyway, happiest Amazon in the World, then complains loudly if it all ended to soon! What the heck anyway, from forcing him into acid rain - to I want more, and if I end the session to early, that brings on the Evil Eye!

The Wonderful World of Amazons! :D

Those eyes, Yikes! It is one reason I didn't go for a BFA. Now Saltys are a nice gentle yellow. But same Amazon attack mode, when the mood hits him. Luckily I have read the stickies on the amazon forum so many times I could recite it verbatim, and can read Salty almost before he knows himself what he is going to do. Great pics BTW!

Yes, those beady orange eyes are perhaps the biggest feature firmly rooting xanthopteryx as creatures of unimaginable horror:eek: Though, in his defense, he was actually not angry in that photo of him bending down where his eyes are crazy. He bends down like that and makes this loud, high pitched "weeeeeet" noise when super excited/happy. Fortunately for my photo, his eyes go nuts when he makes the noise (his tail also fans a little) and makes him look as though he is out for blood. Really, he was just saying "thanks for letting me hop in the shower with you";)

The only avian eyes that freak me out more than beady orange ones are species like IRNs and CAGs with the bright white/silver-ish pupils. They make me think of aliens more than dinosaurs though:48:

P.S. as a smaller and more pleasant temperament zon, Salty doesn't need demon-eyes like some of his bigger cousins;) BFA's, YNA's and DYH's have earned their "reputations" :p

I'm a bit eccentric and collect dino figurines. I especially like the feathered dinos. I have a feathered Velociraptor-on-a-stick pouncing on a Protoceratops. Papo just came out with a more scientifically correct Velociraptor that I may have to get one of these days. :) Right now, all my money is going toward making sure baby blue front is fed and nurtured.

Still, this is kinda cool:

Kiwi is flattered to be compare to a velociraptor! I'd put some of your dinosaur figurines where baby blue front can see them. That way she has some role models to look up to so she can grow up to be a big, bad dino bird too someday:D:16::cool: And when it comes to modern dinosaurs, amazons take the cake for most Dino-like.

RIP Gandalf and Big Bird, you are missed.
I can only imagine the trepidation our ancestors felt when carvivorous winged and terrestrial dinos were on the prowl! Of course population densities were likely low, and caves + fire sticks were a primary defense.

Agreed! One of Gabby's nicknames was "Gabby the Velociraptor." When certain people said, "Feathers aren't scary" when referring to the latest dino finds, I laughed at them. My one-pound bird would have changed their minds in a hurry.

I miss my little dinosaur. He was the love of my life.

Cute picture of your Rickeybird. I've only met a few Patagonian conures, none of them tame. I've heard they're very cuddly and affectionate. Is this a thing? :)
