Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
... Ok most of you folks know Amy is really a male. I'm gonna TRY and stop saying "she" from now on...but after 28 years it's going to be rough

So, giving "him" his proper do sexwise..I just like to know about personalities of the male species.

I've talked tons about Amy being lovey..how HE loves his skritches, and can be very lovey back...at times..I won't repeat the stories I've told on how sweet he can be with kisses and gentle nibbles and preening of my beard or running up my shirt to snuggle under my chin...doesn't happen a lot,but it does happen.

Anyone else male BF lovey?

Wow, after 28 years??? That's gonna be tough. I had Gabby DNA sexed at six. I always had a strong feeling of maleness from him. If the DNA test weren't enough, he once had sex with my hand while I was reading and left me a sample. XD After that, I let him do his typical "chicken dance," but I wouldn't allow him to have sex with my hands, thank you very much.

The breeder is pretty certain my new BFA is a female, so it will be interesting to compare the two, although it's hardly fair considering she's a different species. I plan to have her DNA sexed once she's old enough. I guess I'll have to decide when that is. Right now, all she has to do is whine a little and I'm feeling guilty about her formula not cooling off fast enough. XD She whines like a little puppy, so sadly it breaks my heart.

It's not a good gauge, but this tiny baby is extremely cuddly. I'll let you know how that progresses.

Good luck trying to switch your gender references.

I had my doubts years ago ( never laid an egg) Amy was just 4 months old when I got him. Last year at a wellness check, they wanted to do a blood panel on him...so I decided might as well do dna too as long as blood is being taken..Imagine my surprise  when I got the call!

Over the many years of different Amazons owning our home, we have been graced by both females and males. With the exception of the seasonal differences there had been few if any notable differences between the girls and the guys.

Yes, they come to us very ill and/or injured and that first year is lost to building their health back. We take care not to confuse being lovey with being weaken. We can tell when their health begins to build back as their personalities wake-up and they start to push for their own space.

We have found that it is the handling that is critical difference in how lovey they are. The more comfortable our Zon's are with our hands and us in general, the more they trust and want to be close.

My male Bluefrnt ended up being a big love .He would flipon his back so I could rub his belly .He would get in my lap for head rubs all day I always wondered if the Blue frnt species were more lovey.I have dbl yellow heads too.
