I took Fidget on a walk this morning in his Pak-o-bird and apparently he loved it! As we were walking he would say 'Hi' to people passing us on the trail, or he would wolf whistle! (Umm. thats wasnt me, it was him!!) :D But, once we got home, he wouldnt come out of the pack! When I tried to pick him up, the silly guy bit me, twice! Guess he likes his walks!

What does your bird have strong opinions about?

I had my Parker wolf whistle at a lady in tight workout clothes ona rail after she passed by us got about 20 feet ahead. I don't embarrass easily at all. I was very red for an hour afterwards! Dude is trying to get his gay dad slapped!

Arent the pak o bird great? Salty love his, but not as much as a harness.
He hates bein taken off his roosting spot and going to bed. He wont bite but may nip.

Wrench, yeah, I love it and so does Fidget apparently!

We are working on a harness but we arent there yet, so until then, we use the pak-o-bird. I always laugh at the comments I get when we are out.

Chris, hehe... thats funny. Fidget hasnt embarrassed me, yet. But I'm sure he will, hes still young!

Kiwi is also fussy about coming out of his pak-o-bird too. He practically falls over himself to get in, but it typically requires the stick to get him back out. He really loves car rides and being out and about. When Kiwi is tired, he definitely lets you know. If he's not near his cage he'll call out until he's put up, if he is in his cage area, he'll march inside and close the door behind him and make a noise to alert you it's time for the night covers:p

Yeah, P-o-B has not figured out a good way to handle the long tails of Macaws other then to make a long pouch-y kind of thing. Not the most wieldly of things.

Kiwibird, maybe its a thing and I should just figure on using a stick to get him out. Hes not running to get in it yet, but if I had to guess, he may get that way. hehe.. love that he puts himself to bed!

Inger, thanks. I like it too, but I havent been able to get him to say it yet. I wonder if they have trouble saying F's?

Kentuckienne, It was pricey, but well worth saving for and getting. But yeah, Gus wouldnt fit into the one I have. Maybe you could fold up his tail feathers? ;)

Amy doesn't have a pac-o-bird..she (there I go again...can't seem to type HE...after 28 yrs it's kinda stuck in my head ) Anyway, amy just goes on his perch stick, then into the car,and sits on the awesome car perch Al and Salty so graciously gave Amy..He loves it too!

First time I saw the pac-o-bird was a couple summers back when we went to visit Al and Salty..I was impressed with its construction. Last summer Al and Salty came up to my place for a visit, and Salty was in his p.o.b. It looks very roomy for Salty for sure.
I was wondering about a big 'ol BF sitting in there, then I think Tracey posted one with Kiwi.

I really don't know how Amy would feel about being in a p.o.b. HE has always been free to move around when we go places, and is content with my shoulder or the perch stick. However, there is always the inevitable "poop" thing..guess that's why I'm a tee shirt kind of guy lol. But it would probably free me up,knowing Amy is really safe and I wouldn't have to worry about poops,or the possibility of him getting spooked ( only three times in 28 years has that happened)_

His strongest opinion?? Is coming out of his house when I want him to! It just won't happen! If I try with the perch stick,he hangs upside down from his roof rafters, either kicking at the perch,or hanging by his feet and chewing at it..will only come out when he is good and ready!
Oh yea...then there is BB's house...but that's another story

I wish I could afford, or be huge enough to carry, a pack-o-bird for Gus. I'd take him out.

The price tag for the Big Mac carrier is just:eek: But if you did decide to get one for Gus, what about putting it in a stroller frame rather than carrying it? I know even the medium Kiwi has is a bit large, that macaw one looks outrageous as a backpack:18: From the celltei website:

If that one wasn't big enough for you, behold, the DOUBLE Big Mac:

And if money is no object, you can have a custom rig like this made for taking multiple large parrots out for a walk at once!:

(I was looking through some of their "custom" listings and WOW they really do some fabulous and pricey work!)

Always makes me laugh when new owners ask about "owning a parrot". Doesn't work that way! You pick em', you pay for them, but they end up owning YOU:rolleyes:.

One of the best 'features':p of an amazon is they certainly make it known what they do (or do not) want/like! I must say, nothing makes me happier than watching him be a silly happy boy because he is happy with his life. Best entertainment hands down.

Still, I only paid a $350 "rehoming fee" for 'the bird':green:. I've spent 10X+ that minimum over the years on non-food/non-medical "accessories" to keep him happy/entertained:rolleyes::52::53: And after ALL that, he still won't even let me pet him because he doesn't want to be touched on his head, neck or body (but he WILL raid my dinner plate, make large messes etc...):31:

Gabby (my wonderful DYH) had very strong opinions about his carrier, too. I had (have) a plastic carrier, two black fabric carriers and a blue fabric carrier. He would go into Amazon overload if I dared touch any of them. I learned to get his carrier ready for the next trip when I got home from the last one. It had to be ready to put him inside before he knew what was happening because if he saw me fiddling with his carrier, at the very least our trip would be delayed. If I pressed the issue, I deserved whatever I got.

I am guessing he saw the carriers as extensions of his space. That's the only rational explanation I can come up with. After all, he loved trips in the car, especially trips to his grandma's house where he would be spoiled.

My new baby, on the other hand...the car is not her friend yet. We'll work on that and get back to you when she's a little older. :) :green:

By the way, can you give me a Pak-o-Bird review. I wants it. I NEEDS it. Yesss, Preciousss.
