And he's finally here

Just brought my little Lilac-Crowned male home this afternoon. He didn't seem to want to eat yet, I'm guessing it's from the stress of the flight. Going to try again in a few hours. He's very cuddly, I think he was looking for comfort. Currently falling asleep on my stomach.

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
Lots of beautiful/handsome fids showing up lately! ;) What a cute little guy! Looks like he was very tired from his journey in the second photo and is happy to be in his "forever" home :D

Congrats to the both of you...any name yet for the little one?? And as always...MORE PICS!!!

Very cute! That baby looks close to six weeks old and my guess is it's a boy! Congratulations!

Because he's older, he's either used to being fed by his parents or a different hand-feeder, so it may take awhile before you are making beautiful music together with a syringe. :)

And yes, please bombard us with pics!

I haven't come up with a name yet, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Don't feel you have to come up with something immediately. A name is a big decision. I tried on several before settling on "Kizzy" for my BFA.

My best guess is your little guy is a boy. He has a huge beak, large bones and a long, flat head: all typical of male Amazons. I had a boy DYH; now I have a girl BFA. I think. XD

Absolute cuteness overload with this little one! So so cute at that stage of development.

Yes he is a boy, the breeder had him sexed for me by sending in a sample and all.

And off you go on an adventure. :) Please keep posting photos and videos. I've never been around a baby lilac crown. I'm curious to see his development. :)

If she or he is not keen on syringes, try bend i`in the side up of a small metal spoon it almost a funnel shape, and feed him from that. Salty liked that.

I've even heard of people using bent Dixie cups. Easy and disposable.

wrench13, at what age did you get Salty?

Salty was almost 3 months when we got him. He did not like the syringe but loved his little spoon. I still give him a bit of formula once in awhile, he gets all happy when he sees his spoon. He doesn't take much, but it's good practice if I need to give him any medicine.

I love it when they fall asleep on you, tho Salty does that rarely. He the kind that fights sleep, wanting to be in the thick of family life.
