It's only been a little over a month since I've gotten Chuckie. I have been working with him everyday to build up trust. I am very happy to say that we have finally built up that trust. :D Today Chuckie finally said it was ok for me to hold him and walk around the house with him! He did great on my arm, but really enjoyed my shoulder more. Our hard work is finally paying off!View attachment 19137

Very happy to hear that Chuckie is growing into your family so very well!

Just an FYI: Your jewelry will become an interest for near any Parrot! You are going to have to be very careful anytime your Amazon is close to your lips and ears.

It is just one of those realities of life with Parrots!

Enjoy!

I intend to pick up clear plugs for my ears. Chuckie was tugging on them while he was on my shoulder. He did leave it be after I told him no. Our Quaker pulls on my snake bites, so I keep him away from my lips now.

I gave up and stopped wearing earrings a long time ago. All the holes filled in. I also stopped wearing fashionable tops. Yeah. I'm a bird mom and I don't care about fashion. XD Having a parrot doesn't mean giving those things up, necessarily, it's just I'm not trying to impress anyone anymore, at least not in a shallow, surface-y way.

If I ever have my ears re-pierced, I want to know about clear plugs. And I'm SO glad Chuckie is doing well. Bath day, yes? :)

On edit: I concur. He's HUGE! :)

Wowza! Chuckie is a BIG boy! How wonderful you guys are bonding:D He looks pretty at ease on your shoulder despite how large he is. I'm of a similar build to you and Kiwi doesn't seem to like my shoulder because it's small (he sits on my husbands wider shoulder more comfortably).

He is a big boy. He doesn't seem to like my hand or arm as much as my shoulder. Not sure why. Maybe because my arms are a bit smaller? He is very heavy when he's on my arm. Once he's more used to being on me, I will set him on the scale. Hopefully the scale I have is big enough for him to sit on. Lol

A lot of birds become hand-shy because hands have done some pretty mean things to them. Some of those things may have been necessary, but the bird only knows bad things happen when hands grab.
