It looks like Bingo has finished with his heavy molt. I have not seen any more feathers in the bottom of his cage for 2 weeks or so.

new feathers are still coming in. when I scratch his neck it feels like a pin cushion. The amount of yellow on his neck looks to be increasing.

But normally he would be going through his hormonal time. Trying to rub his bum on my hand. So far this December he has not been doing that.

Could his behavior be due to his unusually heavy molt?

Should continue to see Bingo's Nape expand a bit every year and when the correct amount of Nape Yellow is in place, it will stop expanding! Its a DNA thing that without seeing the Parents is hard to guess how much yellow.

Other than timing, the Molt is first and than the start of Hormonal season, as they really have very little to do with each other. Remembering that the goal is that the Best Presentation of Flash Feathers are in place as mating season begins.

Other than one 'rage event' our DYH Amazon has been reasonably happy with the World so far this year. :D

Just because they are part of the Hot Three, does not mean that they are crazed all the time! And, Thank God, for that!
