Do Amazons dislike bad music?

I've noticed that when someone has music on in the house that I dislike, my parrot starts screaming. What I find interesting about it is that the music is annoying me also.

This is the case especially for Rap Music, which mostly sounds bad and is annoying.

I remember when a teenager my brother was practicing the Piano and it would annoy me and my parrot would also always be screaming. I had to always put her in the basement.

I also find the opposite, I listen to decent music and my parrot usually starts talking and seems happier when I put on my music.

I also notice my parrot likes music intended for children, like Christmas or Halloween music made for kids.

I don't listen to music often, and this parrot was brought into my family at 7 years old when I was a teenager, so she definitely didn't learn to like my music. I really think parrots must sense bad music from good.

This leads to the question, has my parrot proved Rap music is mostly bad?

Interesting question.

With regard to the group of Amazons that I have known. As a group, they tend to enjoy music that has a flowing pattern to it. Specific voice and music patterns will catch their attention more than others. There is also variation between Amazons. With some having more of an interest in some 'pieces' and not in others.

The width of Music and what is or is not classified as 'Bad Music,' will create and in some cases demand /create an Artful dance between the sinkholes regarding what different people call great, good, bad or terrible music.

Each style of music will have well crafted 'pieces' and not so well crafted 'pieces.'

Over my long experience with Amazons, I can say they tend too choice wisely.

Salty likes Gospel and rocky ballads and will sing along with them. He also will sing along with my pirate band The Brigands, when I bring him downstairs into the studio. No accounting for tastes with parrots.

Well, music is definitely subjective as to what is or isn't 'good'. I think amazons appreciate a wide range of music, which varies by individual. My amazon likes rap, he will bob his head to the beat and dance around (he's a big time lover of dancing, all the more better if a human joins in the fun:p). He also likes more "electronic", metal, industrial, classic rock, most classical, kids music, the Spanish music my husband listens to (we think his first home may have been Spanish speaking as he goes nuts when hubby speaks Spanish to him) and shamefully he also likes 90's boy bands:rolleyes: What he doesn't like is country western twangy music. He heads for the bottom corner of his cage and whimpers. I hate country as well and feel like joining him in the corner when I hear it... My moms amazon likes opera. She can't "sing" like pronouncing human words, but she'll certainly sing the song of the amazon right along with opera! She also liked the music I listened to in middle/high school where the guys would basically scream an entire song in a deep guttural voice. Yup, she went nuts for that stuff. Some of the industrial music too.

Amy a Blue Front 'Zon
Jonesy a Goffins 'Too who had to be rehomed :-(

And a Normal Grey Cockatiel named BB who came home with me on 5/20/2016.
I think it has to do also, with what they have been subjected to. I have music on everyday from the moment I get up until bedtime. I even leave the stereo on for the kid's when I go out (set the stereo on a timer for 1.5 hours)
I'm a classic rock guy,so that's what plays.

When Jonesy was here he showed great interest in music lol. Pink Floyd or Led Zep got him going! Bobbing his head, doing his "too dances and some vocalizations.
Amy nor Beebs, really show any interest

I wonder if he’s reacting to YOU rather than to the music?

I listen to electronic and dance music, my parrots hate it. They start to scream when i turn on tv/yt and they don't stop until I turn it off. They like easy music, like smooth jazz.

that all depends on the definition of "bad" music haha

I have some more niche musical tastes but my Conure ended up liking J-Rock, ACDC and Johnny cash
