Is there any better music then an Amazon serenade?

I say No! Salty got his Luciano Pot-a-belli on last night and just tune after tune after tune, belted out as only an Amazon can. We recognized maybe 1/4 of the tunes but boy, he really believes in what he is singing! Lasted for more then a half an hour, and I was scared to run an get the camera for fear of interrupting him. You can bet we gave him a standing ovation too!

I say NO, nothing better. Salty comes from a musical family, ya know!
I have my phone wth me constantly, so as to avoid missing recordable moments, but often, just raising the phone stops the performance.

The Amazon national anthem is one of my preferred songs of the parrot world (it's a tie between Cockatoo's, Ekkies and Tiels as my least favourite) When a Zon truly gets going it's beautiful

My greatest joy occurs when one of our Amazons had come to a point in regaining its health and that Amazon wishes to announce to the World: I am here and I am an Amazon!

Its why I love a vocal, noisy Amazon!!! Love the Serenades!

My mom's wild caught DYH loves to "sing". Not in human words, but in the language of wild amazons, often along with music and it is beautiful to listen to. Kiwi never sings, though he does dance.

Love the voices of wild caught Amazons! As you say, it is beautiful to listen too.

They are fabulous singers, Amazons, and they seem so inclined to do it naturally. It makes me wonder what sounds Eckies (and other parrot species) are good at doing naturally.

I've been making a total idiot of myself singing opera with Remi in earshot and it's my hope she'll pick up... er, something but for the moment she just looks at me weird.

There is nothing like an Amazon carrying a renowned and outstanding operatic tune and key! An ovation much deserved. Greys can sing a little, there is a cute video on YouTube of a Goffins singing along to ''Rocket Man." But nothing matches a singing Amazon with opera!

And there's also nothing like a tiel whistling sweet nothings in your ear.

Unfortunately non of my amazons sing.
In the first year of having Bingo (I dislike the term owning) we did teach him to sing " I love LA."
But we did not continue saying it and he stopped repeating it.
screaming is a different kettle of fish.
I am not sure screaming always means "I am feeling good".

Before we lost Pacho she was screaming at times that were not usual. I think she was trying to tell me something was wrong but I did not listen.

Lucy's birdsong is very beautiful and probably as her kind (wild caught) age out and pass on, those beautiful vocal patterns will no longer be made in human homes. It does not seem the chicks of wild caught parents learned their parents vocal patterns. I've heard more vocal captive bred amazons than Kiwi and while the vocalizations are similar none of them have ever quite had that 'melodic' quality of a wild caught's vocalizations.

Salty has set times or activities when he usually sings

Wake up at 10:00AM Not a peep
Breakfast being prepared - 10:30AM Small amount of squeeks and laughs as he plays with foot toys in his cage.
1:00PM his cage is open and he can come out and play. He usually gets mad at his tubular bell at some point, good for a 1/2 hour growling.
Lunch - 2:00 Geri makes his lunch, and now comes the full on Amazon singing. Right up to when lunch is actually served, then silence descends.
from3:00 on anything goes - talking jags, singing jags, and laughing spells right up til Geri starts making dinner for the human side of the family and then Salty lets loose the top level Amazon screams, which I have to deflect by moving into my bedroom, to play with him, or watch videos or try teaching some new trick.
Dinner is quiet time, and after Salty takes a break, stuffing the odd corner of is crop.
The hour or so before trick training time ( 8:45PM) he likes to sing mostly human stuff in his indoor voice. The 30 minutes of trick training, Salty only sings or talks or laughs when it is a part of the trick we are working on. And after the training session is over, Salty makes almost no noise at all, getting himself ready for roosting for the night. 10PM he gets transferred back to his cage, with a few little squeaks.

My Amazon is a weirdo I guess not your typical 'zon. I wish he would "sing" more. There are times when Amy will launch into a full-blown Amazon noise-athon but not very often..Actually amy is pretty darn quiet.
When he does get noisey,I encourage him to speak out.."Thats it Amy! What-cha going on about?" "talk to me!"
At times he'll answer back and this might continue for ten minutes.

When BB lets loose,he LETS LOOSE! Every song/tune he knows he whistles at the top of his little air sac. nine times out of ten,it's right in my EAR too
I could listen to him all day really
