...so, Uncle DJ stopped in to say HI to the kids and I. He stayed quite a while and his nephew The Beebs just smothered him with love and "Weet-Woo's"

I prepared a little dinner for us,a couple pieces of pork loin and some roasted spuds with aujois.
BB was back in his house and Amy joined us. DJ offered Amy a piece of pork ( first time ever offering Amy anything) and Amy ran to the end of his T-stand and stretched out to take it from him. His beak was chomping down so fast, like he had never eaten in his entire life. Then a half piece of 'tater which went just as fast.
After three pieces of loin and two full taters,Amy was full. He was content..preening himself, and smacking his beak. Obvious to DJ and I,that he thoroughly enjoyed himself, and DJ was thrilled that he got a bit closer to Amy.

I guess it is true..the way to an Amazon's heart,is thru his/her belly :D

so...a question here. Is a piece of THOROUGHLY cooked pork...ok for a fid??
This is the first time Amy ever had any

As long as there's no potentially dangerous spices and what not added I don't think a tiny bit of pork will hurt a bird on one occasion

I dunno, Jim , but Amy seems to have a cast iron crop. Pizza slices, whole chicken legs...I can't think that a couple a bits of hog would slow him down. Meat wise, Salty loves his bone marrow! No interest in beef at all, never tried pork.

Al, it DOES seem that Amy will try just about anything once. He too loves the chic bone marrow. Just watching him methodically pulling the bone apart to get at the marrow. I could give him two bones at once, and he'll take his time destroying them and leaving nothing but dust.

He has had very small pieces of sausage (with peppers) Lasagna with bits of burger, chic alfredo, tiny pieces of my ham and cheese sammich, and seems to enjoy every morsel. Of course it is ALWAYS in small amounts and not often.

Baby will eat meat but she prefers to suck any juice or sauce off some of it. Chicken gristle parts are her favorite...marrow from bones is tasty as well. We have always shared meals with her...being careful not to give her too much of anything but if she sees something on our plate that she dosn't have ......well she has a bit of a fit.
She gets special food of her own that we 'pretend' to eat but really it's all hers ...
One time in Mexico another table got served first so she headed their direction.... :)
Variety is the best thing we can do for our feathered family IMHO.

I saw a cockatoo in China dive head first into a bowl of..... well I'm not real sure what the hell it was, but the chef brought it out special for that bird. I peeked and saw all sorts of stuff floating around in it. He was the resaurant's mascot, greetin everyone at the door with a big NeeHow ( Hello), and he looked in fine feather. Maybe I should start feeding Salty some MooGooGai Pan ?

My Bingo likes pork also.

If we are having pork and rice or potatoes If we give him the side dish without at least a small piece of pork he wont even go down to his food dish.
He just gives us the evil eye and waits till he gets his "pound of flesh" before venturing down to eat.

Funny story from today. I think on the spring menu is rocks dirt and mud, he returned to his dinner table 5 times today. And yes, he gets a mineral bar regularly..

Mine is Italian. Lasagna, spaghetti, eggplant are all favorites. And pizza, not just the crust. Try giving him pasta without sauce and risk the wrath of an angry Amazon!
