Morning is my time with Bingo. Taking him out of his cage, sitting with mem scratching or just cuddling.

In the summer around the house I wear short pants and T-shirt.

In the winter it's sweat pants and sweat shirt.

In the past Bingo would accept both forms of dress as "acceptable".

For some reason with cold weather on the rise Bingo is no longer accepting of my sweat pants/shirt. I am completely unable to get him to step up if I am wearing them. I thought it might just be the shirt so I ditched it this morning and it was still a no go. I have tried leaving his cage door open and he won't climb out so long as I am wearing this inappropriate (to Bingo) clothing.

After the house had warmed up and I switched to my short pants Bingo started in on his …. I want to come out display.

Bingo has always been sensitive to what I am wearing. When dressed to go to work and I pass by his cage he will lunge at the bars slamming his beak into them and hissing his "I WANT TO BITE YOU" warning. But timing is everything as they say. When I come home form work dressed the same (of course) he is happy to get scratches from me.

any ideas:33: ?

Well, my friend, either your legs are gonna get cold or your heat bill is gonna go up.
Sorry, kidding.
Isn't that odd?
I suppose you could try rolling your sweatpants/sleeves up and gradually rolling them down? Tricks like that? Offering most beloved treats while wearing the sweats? Maybe he'll just get over it in a little while?

Were the sweatpants and sweatshirt new, or had you worn them around Bingo in the past? Were the colors different from colors you've typically been wearing in warm weather? Both of these things are something a parrot might object to (I speak from experience :D).

With mine it is shoes. I can wear anything I want, but once I put on shoes all hell breaks loose!

They are exactly the same.

I have 2 pair of sweat pants that have always been ok.

I have 2 shirts but only one of them is parrot approved (even though to me they are the same color).

That's why this is so puzzling. I am hoping he will get use to it but I don't remember this being an issue before.:gcc:

Wow, this would be a huge issue in my house, as I live in central PA, it's freezing here already, and I live in sweats and track pants and hoodies...Kane would be living inside his cage until he got over that little issue, lol, because I NEED my sweats and my hoodies....NEED them!

***So are you saying that this just started with the sweatpants and sweatshirts this year, and last year they were okay with him? And they are the same sweats that you wore last year around him and he was fine? If so, then that is odd...I know this will sound ridiculous, but since the last time you wore the sweats and he was okay with them until now, has anything happened with him and the sweats that might have made him angry about them? Like, has anyone tried to pick him up using sweats like a towel? (just an example of something that might set him off against sweats)...Has he had any negative interactions with anyone who was wearing sweats?

Usually there is a reason, such as already mentioned with the colors, or a picture on the sweatshirt, or something happened to them that involved someone who was wearing sweats, or someone threw a sweatshirt at them, etc.

Yes that's just right. Last year we never had a problem with the same sweat pants/shirt.

I did towel him not to long ago (2/3 weeks) to trim his nails but I can't say I remember what I was wearing at the time. Color of the towel is blue, my sweats are grey/red.

Only thing that has changed is the little walk we took in the Pak-o-bird back pack but I was definitely wearing short pants then.

I am sure there is some kind of birdy logic going on but I have not figured it out yet.

Crisis is over.

Bingo stepped up and came out of his cage this morning and I was in my sweat's.
Sat with me and accepted scratches. He really wanted to sit in the window but Bella already had that spot so I could not put him up there.
