Everytime I sit on the couch and eat Bill makes sure that I know that he wants to try some. I had to move the couch away from Bill's house cause he would climb onto the couch. Although I liked him doing it, my wife and son are a little unsure of Bill just yet so I moved it out of his reach. So I'm eating some KFC and I reach over and give Bill a spoon of mashed potatoes. Yea I let him eat off the same spoon as I do, any of you guys share spoons with your friends during a meal? So Bill goes wild over mashed potatoes! We had some left over so the next day for lunch I'm finishing of the taters. I put some in Bills special little bowl, he tries it and then throws his bowl. So I'm like I thought you like this stuff? The only thing different is this time it wasn't warm. So I heated it up and tried again. He went wild once again! What a spoiled feathered little guy! So now I'm heating up stuff for him to eat. I'm going to make some oatmeal tomorrow for breakfast for us. I can't wait to share breakfast food with him. It is so much fun hearing Bill making his happy noises when he is eating stuff that he loves!

Sunny a female B&G macaw;
Japie (m) & Appie (f), both are congo african grey;
All are rescues- had to leave their previous homes for 'reasons', are still in contact with them :)
Did you know that feeding your parrots warm food can completely send them in a hormonal overload -- because to them it's warm because you regurgitated it for them, so you are flirting ...

I am not an expert on amazons, but what I've read they are not the kind of personalities you (like the large too) want to have hanging around being all ready to mate (and tear the faces of the rest of your family because... perceived territoy issues/ mate-stealing threats etc.)

All that said and done- yes, most parrots love warm food.
Parents feed their young warm stuf, lovers do the same and warm food means love...
so make very sure your "love" is not misunderstood ;)

I do not know how old Bill is, but keep an eye on his behaviour when you feed warm stuff.

I always feed warm foods. Never really had a problem. Sam is 35, and pretty much beyond too much of a hormonal action, but I don't even remember anything when he was young. He really seems to enjoy some things warm so we give them to him.

My YNA has begging down to a science.
First is the look.
Next he does his dance.
If that fails is noise in increasing volume.

I can see Bill getting excited when I'm in the kitchen. I talk loud so he can hear me, and I say "You want some yum yums?" He starts moving around and talking, then when he eats I just sit back and watch and listen to him making happy sounds. I haven't had him do anything different during or after eating warm stuff. Bill is 25 years old, and I know almost nothing on his past life. He is in a different cage too. I feel really lucky to have the relationship with him that I do. We get closer everyday, and I want more. I even see Bill getting easier on my wife, and my son too. My son has been feeding Bill and moving closer to him too. I can't wait till my son can pet Bill, he always asks how do his feathers feel? Anytime I'm doing anything with Bill my kid is right there saying "your so lucky" as he watches me playing with Bill. I keep telling my son to just take his time and slowly keep getting closer and keep talking to him, and it will come. I look forward to the day my son pets his head like I can.
