A Yellow Naped Amazon
After careful consideration I have decided to part with my pet Yellow-Naped Amazon Parrot.

She is ~43 years old and is entertaining and very sweet and kind to female humans. However, in the 36 years that she is been part of our household I have never know her to not be aggressive to male humans. She can co-exist with male humans but care must be taken. For example, I have been her primary caregiver over this time period and while I have been bitten by her, this only has happened when I have been careless or moved to quickly around her.

I'm attaching a couple of pictures of Arnold.

Thanks so much

Where are you located?

I have a male YNA of about 36 years old and live in southern California.

My YNA (Bingo) sounds like the opposite to your Female YNA. He only likes men and hates my wife.

It's not very likely that you live near me but I am sure we would like to know more.
Reason for rehome.

I'm sorry you are having to re-home your baby after 36 years, that's gotta be tough, but I'm sure you're doing it for the good of your bird...

Where are you located? That's going to be a big determining factor for people who are interesting in adopting Arnold...

I have been planning to bring home a new large Conure species, but I'd rather help a bird in-need of a home than bring home a new baby....I'm a female who lives alone in my own house; chances are you're nowhere near me, but worth a shot...

Ok, why is her name Arnold?

When we first adopted her, we thought she was a male because she liked (still likes) to repeat "Hello Arnold". The seller said her name was Arnold - and it remained that way even after we determined she was a female.

Thanks so much,
Dominic

Ok, that makes sense. Arnold it is. Hope you find a really good home for her that she fits right into! Good luck.

Ah, I love Chicago! I am a life-long, HUGE Notre Dame fan, of the school and all the sports teams (my first word was "Irish" if you ask my mom and dad, lol), which is odd since I'm from and have lived in State College, PA my entire life...I go out to South Bend once a year for a week to spend on campus, go to soccer/hockey/lacrosse games and just hang-out, and then end the week with a football game every year (gone about 14 times now)...And I've made the train-ride up to Chicago and back during two of my trips to go to Buddy Guy's place and here some real Blue and Jazz...And hit the museums you guys have...

Have you found a home for your YNA yet? I'm not against a 10-hour drive one-way to meet a parrot, I drove 9-hours one-way and back to pick-up my baby Senegal, Kane...He rode the entire way home from Raleigh, NC in the hood of my sweatshirt, cuddled against my neck, and by the time we got back home to PA he was my little baby boy...

I would like to personally endorse Ellen to the OP as an excellent potential home for this bird. She is an experienced and caring bird owner who works at a vet clinic. Not going to find a much better home than that!

Awe, thanks so much for the kind words Kiwi!!! That really means the world to me, nothing better than being considered a good home for a bird in-need!
