Here's my wife and our Lily , 8 months blue fronted amazon, playing together. She is very gentle (when she wants to be :)) ), so far... a quiet bird, she was hand-fed of course. She likes us both so far.. me & my wife. She also can speak 5 words now in our language, and whistles a lot. Hope she doesn't get mean :D , we are very patient with her... amazons really are very dominant parrots...:21: Just want to share this video with all of you, she was really in a good mood today :D:D:D:D

WOW! That's really awesome. I thought Fred was getting really tolerant of touching, but he's nowhere near what your little girl allows.

Thank you both , and SharonC, yes , she is very tolerant to us both, but only when she wants to be :) . Sometimes she would barely let us touch her neck... BUT ... when she wants action ... she can be like that (on the video) for hours :)) .

INTERESTING WAS WHEN :

We got her, she was 3 months old, and on the start she was sleeping in our living room, where we have TV and we spend 99% of our time. When we put her to sleep, we only covered her cage. TV was very quiet, and so where we... but still, she had no quality sleep. We could hear that, cause she was waking up all the time, and on the start, she was very grumpy in the morning and during the day. After 3 months, I said to my wife, that we really should move her to another room when she goes to sleep... and so we move her now to our bedroom every evening at 8.00 P.m., and she sleeps every day till 7-8 A.m. , and she is 500% better than she was. So... the "myth" about 12 hours of sleep for this parrots... IT'S TRUE!! She is less moody, and much more gentle than she ever was :))

I do that with all my birds...they go to the sleep room with lights out and door closed at 7PM. It's great, for me and the birds!

As much as our birdies hate to go to bed at 7:00-7:30, it makes a huge difference in their moods if they stay up late.

Will my birds be alright if I have them on a little bit of a different schedule. I go to school in the afternoons and like to play with them a little after class. If they are awake a little later but still get the full 10-12 hours of sleep a night will that affect them in a poor way or should getting the full 10-12 hours a night be sufficient enough if its on a set schedule?
