Last night, around 2 AM, I woke up to a weird crunching sound. I wondered if large insects had invaded our house. I listened for a while, and realized it was coming from where Sam was. I got out of bed to investigate, and found Sam ripping one of the perches in his cage apart. In the middle of the night!
Now, this perch is supposed to be one of those that Amazon's can't chew up. It has lasted around three years so far, so I thought we were safe. Nope.
I had to speak to him and tell him to go back to bed. He finally did, and when I woke up this morning, his perch was toothpicks!
Whatever made him get up at 2 AM to chew a perch he was sitting on I will never know. He has never done anything like this before. Such a weird bird! LOL
