Here's a Link to the video I made today. For the last 14 days, Lily our blue front does behavior as seen on the video, but only when we touch her like that. Is that normal, or should we avoid touching like that. Lily of course has a long way to her sexual maturity, cause she is only 8 and half months old. What do you think? Anyone has any experience with that kind of behaviour ???

She is getting excited. Please don't encourage her by petting her in this manner as it will create real hormonal behavior when she matures. BF Zons can lay eggs at 2 years of age.

Thank you very much, I though it was something like that, and I really don't want her to get sexually frustrated, and we won't do that again.....

Also, is that kind of behavior typical for both gender or for only for a specific gender, cause we're not shure if she is a male or a female YET....

We must be careful with both sexes in all companion parrots.
It is advisable to only pet on the head & never, never stroke down the back.
Being a companion parrot with humans as it's flock, we tend to bring the worst out in our parrots by touching them in the wrong way. They are all very cute when young but as they mature & we haven't set some ground rules we can easily set ourselves up for disaster. There are to many parrots being rehomed by the time they are 3 years old, because of behavior issues. It just so sad.

Hey There, that's typical hen breeding behavior. The hens are stimulated by the males feet on their backs when co pulating. If you continue this will have to be part of your daily ritual before you can handle her in the AM and again at nite. Of course it will improve your bonding together but also will affect her onepersonist trait. If you have other pets (especially hen amazons) she might become overly aggressive to them also. When my my pet hens start this i try to switch it over to play or put them back on their perch. The
long and short of it is , you have a horny young female and how you deal with it now will determine how things will be in the future. PS If you continue this will be a daily ritual ,not just seasonal.
