Well, i had it in my mind that it wasn't 'til April, but in fact, today's the day! I have no idea where the time went. Today marks one year since the lovely Miss Baxter came home with me. Also, as of her hatch day March 1st, she's officially old enough to vote. Yup, the big 18... An "adult" now. Love my little girl so much!

On a side note, a few weeks ago, Tucker tested positive for ABV, so since Baxter was due for her check up, I got her tested as well. YAY! She's ABV negative, and wonderfully healthy except for being a little well padded. (Imagine that, a chunky Amazon) She's been stable at about 650 for quite some time. My daughter moved out a few weeks ago, and took her cat with her, so it's much easier for the birds to have out of cage time now. Hopefully that will help her get some more exercise, although she doesn't have great interest in flying yet. She's a good flyer, just chooses to... not, unless it's deemed necessary.

Anyway, here's my baby girl, all dressed up with a floofy "flower in her hair" for the gotcha day occasion. :-D

Thanks for keeping your fans up-to-date.

That flower is precious! Such a coy little pose. Since the flower is more or less behind her left ear, does that mean she's 'taken'?

650 does sound heavy.
Last time I checked my Bingo he was around 550-560.
Not all YNA are the same though. I think some can be larger than others so weight would be correspondingly heavier.

Lol! Nope, not taken. She's a confirmed bachelorette. Wants absolutely nothing to do with Tucker. Baby girl only has eyes for her daddy. [emoji7]

Congratulations Madam Baxter on your Gotcha Day!!!
And, as all Amazon staff know, it's the Amazon that rules the home and is therefore the Queen of all...

Our Dear Baxter, you have chosen well Lady!

FYI: My Good Friend and like Amazon Snob above noted that there are several different sized YNA and it is very important to know, which you have. Check her Breast Bone and determine if it is well padded or you feel the hard bone!

Yeah, she was on the thin side at around 560 when I got her. I'd like to see her in the 600ish range. (Her vet as well) She's a big girl for sure. Padded, but certainly not awful. Not much I can do with diet though, she gets zero fruits, no sunflower or peanuts, or fatty stuff, and really doesn't eat much anyway, especially compared to Tucker, who eats like a pig, but flies a lot, and is otherwise super active. We just need to get her activity level up. Easier now without a cat in the house.

Tucker recently had his first bout of toe tapping, so I took him to the vet right away for blood work and check up. Since nothing really jumped out at him, he tested for ABV as a possible source of neurological issues like the tapping. It stopped that day. The tapping has not come back yet, so hopefully my diet adjustments did the trick, but he was positive for ABV. He has no evidence of PDD or any other symptoms whatsoever, and is otherwise a happy, healthy boy. He likely has had it from the beginning from his parents, or the shop he came from originally. It is unfortunately more common than we realize among domestic parrots. Thank goodness Baxter is negative. Since she really doesn't like him, they don't share cage space, food, or have any physical contact. (Except for his determination to land on top of her cage, which she doesn't allow lol)
