Help!

I need more help on my new parrot..
Ive been trying to stick train her but shes so afraid of it and dont know what to do shes afraid of hands just as stick training her, she can take food from my fingers but she bit me when i tried to give her with the palm of my hands and oww that hurts!

She has been in the smallest cage her whole life shes 18 years old and i need help can anyone please try to help me on training her?

Shes also missing feathers on her chest and below her chest i dont see her plucking im giving her the feather up med its supposed to be good stuff for her.

Please help!!

You have to go slow and at the pace of the bird.
It sounds like she is just not ready to trust you yet and (I mean this in the nicest way) waving a stick at her (from her point of view) isn't going to help.

Just my opinion but some things just take time.

The first time I saw my RLA Pacho a sales girl was waking around with a perch trying to get her to step up off the floor.

I just walked up to the bird and offered my had and she stepped up.
She saw me as someone who was rescuing her from danger and I did not leave the shop without her.

I have found that when one of my birds ends up on the floor or a spot that cant fly away from they are more willing to step up to a hand or a perch because it lets them escape from a place they feel vulnerable.

My Green Cheek Amazon Luna will ONLY step up onto my iPad (or a tablet of any kind),
Any time I need to move her I have to grab my iPad cuz it's the only way she will accept.

Aw thats cute, my parrot was not really socialized for 18 years shes very old and hard to train im going to give her time, let her trust me first

She's very old? 18? My girl just turned 18 also, and I expect many, many years with her. 18 for an amazon is barely a young adult. You have a long time with your parrot, don't worry about trying to make everything happen instantly, it will just make the process harder. Give her the time she needs to trust you. The stickies at the top of the amazon sub forum about body language, and I love Amazons, are full of helpful information. Read, read, and read some more. Read them aloud to her to help her become comfortable with you and your voice. They're so worth the effort! We're all here to help you along the way in any way we can.

I would never do a palm up or open hand. It makes your hand too large and ominous.

Two fingers, forefinger and middle finger pressed together, only. Forefinger alone...no. It’s not strong enough to support the weight of the bird.
