Just bought a 2 year old blue front amazon

So yesterday I purchased an amazon and found out the same day
It can talk and loves to be petted inside the cage, so I decided maybe
I should try and pet him inside the cage because he is very friendly. Well he bite me which Im not really that surprise. So my question is how should I train him to go on my arm or does it sound like hes trained and just needs time to get used to me.

He needs time to get use to you first and foremost hes only known you for less than 24 hours. let him settle in and adjust to his environment first

He really nice as if he was trained before. I’m not sure the steps because he was obviously trained before me.

so he must know how to step up and stuff if he knows how to talk and loves to be petted. Yeah I’m gonna give him time. I just wasn’t sure just because of the fact he’s acting so friendly in the cage

Welcine to the forum im lad you found us. Lodt of Amazon owners here.
It takes trust, paying attention to body language, ect.
Some parrots are more protective of their cage and do better out of the cage.

At the top of the Amazon forum are threads in blue stickies that's good to read all those.

This is a well rounded introduction to general behavior

Re: Just bought a 2 year old blue front amazon

First off, welcome, and congratulations on your new amazon! So glad you found us. There's lots of knowledgeable folks here, always happy to help!

Now, even under the best circumstances, you need to slow down. Your amazon has just been torn from everything he knows, and it takes time to learn what's what, and understand his new world. Here's a link with some helpful info on building trust and bonding:
Tips for Bonding and Building Trust

Also, some very helpful reading for everyone owned by an amazon:

These are a great place to start, hope they help!

Re: Just bought a 2 year old blue front amazon

Thank you guys I appreciate it! I just wasn’t sure because I didn’t expect him to be so friendly right off the bat. I was expecting to be nervous and scared so I gave it a try and now I know just bought him a few big carrots as a nibbling treat he loves it!
