Hormonal and screaming!!!

My BFA is 1.5 yr old . I didn’t think they went through the hormonal stage until 3?? This week his behavior has taken on some changes!! He screams when I leave the room now and doesn’t stop!! We’ve had the same routine since I got him at 15 weeks. He stays in my office with me until noon and then he goes out to living room on his tree. All has been well until this week! He screams and he is getting bitey when I let him on me. Sometimes I bird sit and he got really upset with my husband becaise my husband was talking to this other bird and he started screaming at him ! Lol. My bird likes both of us ....I am his person but he’s actually growing more fond of my husband. Anyway what can I do to help his screaming! He wants to be on me 24/7!! He won’t play with toys at all...he might while I am cooking dinner but all other times he wants my attention! I knew this was coming!!haha. Help!

I don’t think it’s hormones.
It sounds like contact calling. He/she wants to know where you are.
When your BFA screams for leaving his view try calling back “I’m right here “ or “I am coming back “

Develop your own more pleasant contact call like a whistle.

Contact calls are a part of their social world and you're not being a crazy bird lady is likely contributing. In their world, everyone is talking to each other most of the time! When you are in contact with them they are comforted by knowing they have not lost contact with their family! With time, the amount of communication slows a bit, but it is still part of the interaction.

As stated above, it can be words, whistles, singing, whatever.

Far too early to be hormonal based, more likely a shift as part of growing up, i.e. wanting more interaction with the family.

He is with me 24 hours minus bedtime-about 10 hours ....he’s been ok until this week...I have tried calling back to him from the other room and he screams louder !! Haha. Today I was in the same room and he was just yelling...not looking at me but waving his head like a crazy bird with his beak up and just yelling! Haha he looked like he was just having a fit! Maybe he’s just discovered how loud he can actually be! I am trying to not have him by my side constantly so he can learn to keep himself entertained.

Hmmm, kind of like a Human baby that has just figured-out that it has a voice. Much the same with your Amazon. Much the same techniques, only difference is that the Amazon never fully grows-up and leaves the house.

Takes time to establish what your contact call with him will be. And yeah he has to learn that when you do call back, that you will reappear at some point. Settle on a call and stick to it. Me, I use "I'm here! Where are you?". Took a month or 2 until Salty learned that. Now, I can go downstairs to the studio, and contact call him, and he is quiet, playing or just chilling out.

Patience. Parrots rate of change and acceptance of same is glacial compared to our quick monkey brains.

I birdsit sometimes. It’s been a few months since I have but on Wednesday I got a bird to watch and I wonder if that has upset him ? Having a new bird in the house??

A new Parrot can change the dynamic in the home. See what happens further out after the intruder has left will tell whether that is true.

It is kind of you to bird-sit, but assure that the Parrots are far apart and it is fair to be requesting a recent statement of health from an Avian Medical Professional for the Parrot you are bird-sitting.
