I have a pair of budgies that are bonded or maybe in this case used to be bonded, the pair is male and female and they used to preen each other and feed each other but for a long while I haven't seen them do that, is there a reason as to why ?
They recently lost a friend cockatiel few months ago, and another budgie was introduced along with a new flight cage, but the preening stopped way before all of this.

Budgies and cockatiels are often housed together... The budgies might be missing the cockatiel... A new budgie couldn't replace that...

It just takes a bit of time for them to get into their normal rhythm..
