I wish they wouldn't do that.

No matter how much we love our birds I'm sure they all have one behavior that we'd wish we could train out of them; but, have, as of yet, been unable to do so.

What is the one behavior that your parrot has that you wish you could get trained out of them?

mine happens to be the morning "flock call." Nothing more frustrating to me than to be fast asleep and having the "morning serenade" happen at say. oh, 0530 - especially when the baby has been crying most of the night ...

Right now, it's the over-preening and plucking he's doing. I thought I had it under control until a few months ago when I allowed his previous owner to visit him. But after the previous owner left, he's been none stop going to town on his feathers.

It is something that doesn't really affect me directly, but my family members.
Scream for me whenever I am out and she thinks she hears a noise that could possibly be me. I have gotten more phone calls than I can count asking when I am coming home bc no matter what anyone does to entertain her, they can't get Rosie to stop screaming!

when my baby birds start to learn how to fly, they crash into walls, doors etc...then drop to the floor.

my heart stops every time this happens, but somehow they always seem to be ok, I swear I get a grey hair every time this happens, lol

I'm almost embarrassed to admit it....but I truly wish my Ripley would learn his inner "quiet" voice rather than the ungodly CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW CAW ..... :54:

Auggie: Dusky Conure
Actually the screaming doesn't bother me (and I have a conure!)

Auggie has learned the one thing that just drives me nuts, though. It's a muffled quiet but incessant "baccaw, baccaw" that sounds like he's asking a question. But there is just no answer.

He used to use it when he wanted something in particular - like a treat, or when he wanted to be taken to his 'poo spot'. Now I swear he does it just because he knows it's like fingernails on a chalkboard.

I don't have any conure complaints, but one of my budgies humps various things (including broccoli) many times a day, and tries my hand if he's on there long. After 8 years he hasn't slowed down one bit. It's embarrassing and ridiculous, but he's thriving so I guess it's good for him. :( I had to remove the furniture knobs because I got tired of constantly cleaning the little spots of semen (omg) that he gets on them after he humps.

Merlin & Charlie (Senegals)
With Merlin it's either his incessant calling for me/Andrew when we leave (I'm downstairs now getting ready for work and he's just calling/crying/whistling), or him being so beaky about EVERYTHING. He's an absolute doll with everything else.

At the moment with Charlie, I'm not sure, he hasn't been here too long but so far his biggest 'issues' are his "feint" wanting cuddles with Andrew. Or that he wont let us touch him anywhere but his head and stepping up (which is kind of a good thing, but if we need to inspect him/move him quickly, it's not ideal!)

Definitely the morning wake up call: "EEEEEEEEEE-EEEEEEEE!!!!!" over and over...I dont mind during the week, but on the weekends, it would be nice to sleep in past 7 am! I've even kept them up late to see if they would sleep in later...no dice.

Dominic: Galah(RIP: 1981-2018); The Lovies: Four Blue Masked Lovebirds; Barney and Madge (The Beaks): Alexandrines; Miss Rosetta Stone: Little Corella
The Beaks insist on eating my glasses. They've already nibbled off the plastic casing over the earpieces and roughed up the nosepads so I've had to sandpaper them. I'm very much afraid one of them is going to crack the lenses one day! I shouldn't complain... there are days when no one touches my glasses. But then, on other days, they do and I worry.

Today, for example, Mr Barney got ahold of my filigree gold sleeper and ripped it out of my ear. By the time I got it off him, he'd bent it completely out of shape. Sigh. I liked those earrings... (NB. they were only $3 on ebay, but it's the principle, y'know?)

With Dominic, it's his vicious and unpredictable biting! He'll bite me anywhere on my body and completely without warning. I'm at a loss to know why. Strangely, he's fine with my husband and is learning to like my son. Not the daughter, though. He chomps at her every time she walks past his cage.

I can't think of anything the lovebirds do that's unfortunate. They're just gorgeous, comical, well-behaved little guys whose only mission in life is to smile and share it with others.

Alice - Galah cockatoo
Alice is obsessed with sharing my dinner - and underhand tactics on my part such as having boiled vegetables or salad on the side are seen straight through. I've literally lifted up my plate to find her hanging by her beak from the edges in the hope of a bit of pastry or pizza crust, and the other day she landed right in the middle of a bowl of cereal. Dinner times are now like being on a picnic with a giant pink and grey wasp buzzing around my shoulders. I'm guessing her previous owner let her take stuff off their plate at meal times.

In all fairness, Harrisons pellets may have a good reputation and I'm sure they're very healthy but I couldn't resist trying one and I certainly wouldn't choose them over a nice veggie lasagna or a curry!

Skittles,my pineapple GCC, won't leave my nails alone, either, or the diamond in my ring. One of these days he's going to pull it out of its setting.

My Yellow-naped Amazon does something similar. Instead of bird noises, he talks over me using my words! It's incredibly hard to talk with an echo. My friends and family think he is so funny.

I haven't had my caique long, but he goes after my dog!!! We're working on it, but I don't know if I can get him to stop. He'll fly and attack!! It's so frustrating. I can usually catch him before he flys too far though.

LOL!! Jackie kind of does that if someone is talking to me in person, he lurks in the background and says "alright" or "yeaaahhh" throughout the conversation lol completely distracting and always makes me laugh, and then he laughs ho ho ho ho ho!!!

Haha! I guess it is sort of cute but just awful when on an important call.

Jasper also mimics my laugh; he sounds just like I do which is horrible. He he he! Anytime I laugh, he laughs.

Another funny: my husband enjoys lurking around corners to get the next best scare out if me; Jasper copies my scream, now! We'll be quietly eating dinner and out of no where, I scream (or at least, it sounds like me).
