Hello everyone, So I was just wondering... since cats and dogs seem to react to you when you are sick, do birds also know when you aren't feeling well? If so how do they behave?
From bird to bird it may depend, but birds do have an inept reputation for ready body language. They can sense when you are happy or sad, so I don't see any reason why they wouldn't be able to sense when you're sick. As for how'd they react, its hard to say. Probably be the same why as when your sad. They tend to act a little sad themselves and beg for extra attention.
My irn I had knew when I was sick. She would get into even more mischief than normal, knowing I didn't have the energy to deal with her. Yet she was also extra gentle with me while I was sick.
My Alexandrian knew something was wrong when I was sick. He acted extra good (no screams, no pooping on me, no going after my phone). He just stayed perched on me and kept giving me this look like he was afraid I was going go die.
When I fell off a ladder and broke my leg, hip, wrist, and vertebrae, and couldn't walk for months on end, my little budgies never left my side. It may be because I was so slow, and spent so much time in bed. But I really like to think they were offering me moral support. And on days when I thought I couldn't do it anymore, I HAD to, because I had these 2 munchkins dependent on me. I really don't know how I did it without them. Honestly, from morning to night they never left me for more than a few minutes. It kept me going, kept me moving, and helped me heal.
Ps. I'm fully well now, no limp, no arthritis. Like it never happened
