Parrotlet Food Aggression

I was wondering if someone could help me with a problem I'm having with one of my Parrotlets. She is 2 years old and has suddenly become extremely aggressive with my other birds whenever food is involved. Even if she's not eating and another bird goes for the food dish, she will attack them viciously. She has even injured one of my other birds and I have had to separate her in her own cage. This is an entirely new behaviour that has developed in the last month and nothing I do is breaking it. She is perfectly fine and friendly with my other birds any other time. I really have no idea what to do with her.

Hi there and welcome to the forum. I'm sorry you are having problems with your parrotlet at meal time. I think it's wise of you to separate her from the rest of the flock, at least temporarily. Are you sure your parrotlet is a female? Since she is two years old and has never behaved this way, I'm wondering if she's maybe going to lay eggs.

my little girl has something similar, when i go to put anything inner dish. she comes after me and bites the tar out of my hand. I've had to have someone else hold her or keep the cage closed when touching her food dish. not sure why? she's an adoption and I've only had her for 2 weeks now. never had this problem with any other bird.
